This is my #IC1795 known as the Fish Head Nebula. Imaged with an Atik 383L+ mono cam and MN190 scope. Spent most of Jan 2022 on this, had another play with the data during these short nights. #Astrophotography #space #astronomy

My recent image of Melotte 15 in the centre of The Heart Nebula IC 1805. A total of 18 hours narrowband using Atik383L+ and 190MN scope, combined SHO -> RGB. About 7500 light years away. #Astrophotography #Space #Nebula #Melotte #Astrodon

A bright Nebula embedded with stars, showing red, brown, green and orange hues

This is IC 342 which is also known as "The Hidden Galaxy" due to it being hidden by the dust and stars in our Galactic Equator. About 5 hours luminance from a couple of nights ago. I Will add RGB when I get chance. #Astrophotography #galaxy #Astrodon

A large spiral galaxy hidden behind the stars and dust of the Milky Way

Widefield Heart and Soul Nebula also with the Double Cluster in H-Alpha. Imaged with a Samyang 35mm #Astrophotography

Managed 4 hours H-Alpha on Melotte 15 last night which is the Heart of the larger Heart Nebula IC 1805. Definitely one of my favourite objects. Will be gathering [OIII] and [SII] next #Astrodon #Astronomy #Nebula #Melotte #Space #Narrowband

Central part of Heart nebula, a large structure of dust and gas collapsing to form stars

Got the final data on this last night, NGC2174 or SH2-252 The Monkey Head Nebula. Total of 26 hours across Ha, [SII] and [OIII]. Let me know what you think of this version😊 #Astrophotography #Nebula #Space #Astrodon #ngc2174

Colourful Nebula that resembles a Monkeys head.

Finally some clear skies, which means new target time 🙂 here is the first chunk of data for SH2-252 The Monkey Head Nebula. 6 hours total H-Alpha 5nm so far, should hopefully get onto [OIII] later. I will be uploading the the complete calibrated raw narrowband data set to my Patreon once all filters completed. #Astrodon #Astrophotography #Space #Nebula #Astronomy

A Nebula that looks like a Monkeys Head

@astrostace great result for only 39 minutes, which is about the sum total of Uk clears skies in January so far 🙂

Here is my latest image from last night! The great Orion Nebula (m42)

It sits at a distance of about 1400 light years from Earth, and is a great stellar nursery. Stars are born here!!

Taken with my 200mm newt at f3.8. This is only 39 minutes total exposure time 🤯

@cosmicrob thank you, the advent of affordable CCD and more recently CMOS cooled high sensitivity Astro cameras has really opened up the possibilities, if you are willing to catch and hoard enough photons every time the weather permits 😀

@AlphaCephei I’m not sure what’s going on there, it could be a server issue on mastodontech.de or mastodon.online perhaps. Do any of the other images on my feed show up?

@BobReflected thanks Bob, this particular Nebula is quite faint so lots of exposure time required, it’s a law of diminishing returns though so adding more time than this really isn’t worth it for me. I take 30min subs and require >12 or so to stack efficiently so normally I would aim for 6-8 hours per filter as a rule of thumb 🙂

@thomasfuchs Thanks Thomas 😊

My SH2-206 with 29 hours narrowband data, it has been tough to process and this is my first stab at it. Not many images of this interesting nebula. Taken with my Atik 383L+ and 190MN scope from my backyard in the UK. #Astrodon #Astronomy #Astrophotography #Sharpless #Space #Nebula

Colourful nebula with a blue core and a dusty red outer shell, surrounded by stars

@politicalfinger thank you, more to come in 2023 hopefully 🤩

@Phihpod it does indeed, looks like she is walking away and melting into the background. This nebula is commonly called the Elephant’s Trunk nebula and is part of a much larger complex nebula called IC 1396

@gibberishh hah hah yeah a lot of people say it looks like a woman walking away and melting into the background 👻

@thomasfuchs I have a list of targets to keep me busy for a very long time, will be posting them here as they roll in, weather permitting naturally 😂

@thomasfuchs Thanks Thomas, yes the 190MN such a nice scope, so glad I picked it up over a decade ago, second hand too :)

Wishing you all a Happy New Year! Here is a selection of my images from 2022, looking forwards to starting some new projects in 2023 🍾 🎉 . #Astrodon #Astro #Astrophotography #Photography #Nebula #Newyear #Space
