Apple Maps beta works great in Firefox if you spoof the user-agent 🙄

Installed Ruby 3.3.0 on Windows and while updating a Rails project I ran into "sqlite3.h is missing."

The fix was to run in a terminal (cmd/Powershell): ridk exec pacman -S mingw-w64-ucrt-x86_64-sqlite3

#rubyonrails #rails #ruby #sqlite #sqlite3 #windows

Quite peculiar that #Lucidchart is claiming that Apple's policies are why they can't provide their iOS app to their individual subscription tier customers anymore. 🤔

Screenshot of an email from Lucid with the following body text:

We are reaching out to let you know that users on an Individual Lucidchart subscription will no longer have access to the Lucidchart iOS mobile app as of August 17, 2023. Due to Apple’s policies, the iOS app will only be available to those on a Team or Enterprise account. We recognize this change may cause inconvenience, and we will continue to evaluate our mobile offerings going forward.

You may continue to use Lucidchart via tablet by logging into lucid.app on your web browser or by logging in to Lucidchart on desktop. We are actively working on updating our mobile web browser experience so Individual-level subscribers can use Lucidchart on mobile devices in the near future.

If you are on a team but don’t have a Team Lucidchart subscription, upgrade today to maintain access to our iOS app.

@mmasnick I wonder where they're going to find the money for legal costs to even enforce that, or does he not mind digging the hole even deeper?

@caseynewton I can see that happening for real

So, as @chancerydaily points out, legacy blue checks who don't want the blue checks are currently stuck with the blue checks and Musk is implying they may be paying.

And the only way to hide the blue check is if you actually do pay, where you will soon get an option to hide the fact that you pay.

This truly is the dumbest timeline.

So, uh, not pleased that Elon is now implying I might be a gullible sucker who would pay him his monthly "I'm a gullible sucker" fee. Dude should just take away our legacy blue checks like he promised.

Screenshot of my profile on Twitter which *used* to note that I was a legacy verified account "who may or may not be notable" rather than a Twitter Blue subscriber, by now saying "This account is verified because it's subscribed to Twitter Blue or is a legacy verified account"

Facebook now claims that it can do behavioural advertising based on the legitimate interests ground of the GDPR. Facebook tries everything to avoid asking people for consent. about.fb.com/news/2023/01/how-
I’m not convinced. #law #tech #gdpr #eu #advertising #facebook

Screenshot of Facebook press release sayin: ‘In December, the Irish Data Protection Commission found that Facebook and Instagram must change their approach to the legal basis under GDPR for the purpose of serving behavioural advertisements in Europe. To comply, from Wednesday 5 April we are changing the legal basis that we use to process certain first party data in Europe from ‘Contractual Necessity’ to ‘Legitimate Interests’. GDPR clearly states that there is no hierarchy between legal bases, and none should be considered more valid than any other.’

According to : " Blue is actually a service primarily used by people who do not have any real audience or community that they’re active participants in. And this effectively makes Blue more of an attempt at monetizing access and influence for people who don’t have any and are desperate enough to pay to get it. And now we’re seeing really struggle to manage the subsequent cringe of giving people that access and influence." ~ garbageday.email/p/managing-th
