Mittlerweile teils Passwort, Captcha, TOTP und dann aber lieber nochmal eine Bestätigungsmail, weil auffällige Anmeldung. Dazu dann noch obligatorische SIcherheitsfragen, für die man ebenso Passwörter generieren muss, wenn man nicht eine erratbare Antwort als Passwortersatz verwenden möchte.

Sicherheitsschlüssel stattdessen? Na gut, aber trotzdem Passwort zusätzlich zu Schlüssel und dessen PIN.

Passkeys? Klar, wenn man nur von einem System aus drauf zugreifen möchte oder durchgängig auf einen Anbieter setzt. Am Ende wird eh die Hälfte der Nutzer sich ein neues Passwort per Mail bestellen, wenn das Handy nicht mehr geht.

Dazu dann noch Browser, denen man teils nur mit Schwierigkeiten sagen kann, welcher Schlüssel denn jetzt verwendet werden soll. Ugh.

@CmykStudent @eugenialoli @MisterMoo @darktable I would imagine the most requested feature for GIMP to be a decent UX and I hope the GUI topic in the 3.2 roadmap will get some love.

GIMP certainly caught up a bit, but it was indeed slow: It took ~15 years to move to Gtk3, ~20 years to get non-destructive editing, UX improvements were minimal over decades. I hope the modernized GIMP 3.0 allows for quicker development and gains some interest and support in turn.

Eines Tages werde ich empfohlene Pakete unter #Debian auch wieder automatisch installieren lassen. Gibt doch manchmal nicht ganz offensichtliche Fehler, wenn man sich 1-2 Pakete spart. Wenn man wissen möchte, welche Pakete einem da fehlen könnten:

Das wären hier allerdings immerhin 416 zusätzliche Pakete.

Adoption of worker mode could be the biggest performance boost many PHP apps have experienced in years. Those which have adapted to working with request objects already should have an easier time. WordPress, as a popular application, not so much. I will give that a try.

@BlumeEvolution @tanteju5 Vielleicht erleben wir das tatsächlich eher durch den Abstieg der Volksparteien und zwingend stärker fragmentierte Bündnisse. Auch Minderheitenregierungen wären heute oft naheliegend und würden oft lockerere Bündnisse in der Sache als Koalitionsverträge mit sich bringen müssen. Die Repräsentation könnte gestärkt werden.

Was mir daran nicht gefällt? Ich möchte gar nicht mehr Repräsentation durch eine rechte Mehrheit im Bundestag. Ich vertraue so gar nicht darauf, dass man sich dann nicht auch für Zweckbündnisse ins Extreme schneller öffnet.

Ich traue mich gerade kaum, mir eine flexiblere Demokratie zu wünschen.

@beberlei @heiglandreas @sebastian @theseer @Tideways Even relatively simple WordPress pages with some caching enabled take way too much time in their PHP code. It's hard in so many PHP apps/frameworks to get any request answered in less than 100ms and often even below 300 to 500ms. I wonder how much the bootstrap-per-request model (who else is doing that still?) and the synchronous nature of most solutions are major factors. Are people successful with alternative architectures for more performance with PHP? I for sure have not noticed that there has been any real movement in the last decade or so, like ReactPHP becoming more mainstream. The idea of preloading sounded like a bandaid for which I have not been able to find many references to real-world usage.

CMS and mostly static sites often can use PHP, because a lot of content is cached anyway, but even then the backend often does not feel snappy, while you can sometimes get UI updates over the network in less than 50ms elsewhere. This may be doable with PHP, but the most popular projects do not try at all. Is there any part of the market that I do not notice? I'm seriously interested.

A few years ago, when preloading came up, I was hoping for something at least along the lines of frameworks being able to initialize everything up to the request handler/middleware itself only once and start each request from that, without much need for frameworks to adapt. This would not solve all problems, but certainly speed up many requests and make PHP frameworks viable to provide fast APIs. Oh well ...

I might have been missing out on developments in the PHP community somewhat, but it feels like there have not been many advances in the ecosystem?

Erwähnenswert ist aber auch OsmAnd: Weniger leichtgewichtig als Maps-Alternative, aber bietet meine ich auch die Möglichkeit der Aufzeichnung und vermutlich die mächstigste Karten-App ... ?

Welche Motivation sollte irgendein Anbieter haben, dies zu nutzen und vor allem das Ablehnen von Datenverarbeitung zu vereinfachen? Das ist eine komplexere Variante von Do-Not-Track, bei der höchstens noch ein zusätzlicher Mittelsmann mit daran verdient.
