@monster @camelCaseNick btw it would be really cool to have these tutorials translated to other languages. They would be useful for them too. Maybe could even go into developer.gnome.org
Hi, my name is Lorenz, I am 19 years old, I do a lot of things, and I am interested in even more things :)
I am contributor to the #OpenSource Software projects #GNOME and #Vala (I am running @vala_lang) and I am GNOME Foundation Member.
I am from Berlin, but currently living in Phnom Penh, #Cambodia, and I am volunteering in a youth organisation here.
Also recently I got a bit into #Godot game dev.
I am posting about these things, but I want to share other things as well.

@YaLTeR asking because I used to get just a couple a day, and it made me burn out already after a while...
@YaLTeR how do handle on normal days? or are you paid to work on them?
the digital wellbeing front end could still use a solid c hacker. get your application in before wednesday!

@BrodieOnLinux @TheEvilSkeleton you should also say what was actually the case though, that danielle did not say that, and not just why you said it the other way. At least it doesn't come across for me.
And yeah a real apology would be very much appropriate. (no need to be public of course)
Often even a single comment can do so much damage and send waves of harassers towards some people...
@BrodieOnLinux if you have a slow enough connection it would load right again.
@BrodieOnLinux its very easy to try out, whenever a video is loading, switch to another tab and listen if it suddenly starts playing for a moment.
@BrodieOnLinux I use ublock, so no ads. just the video.
@janvhs hm no, I do use ublock, but I have no issues otherwise. it happens when my internet is slow so it stops to load, while showing the spinner. and when I switch tabs it suddenly plays what it has already loaded in the buffer or something like that. but normally it would load longer.
@janvhs what does the ad block do?
Something I recently observed on youtube:
when a video is loading, and you switch to another tab (unfocus), suddenly the youtube video stops loading and starts playing. (at least for a very short moment)
The audio from it distracts you enough and since you don't want to miss the video playing you instinctively switch back.
This should be illegal.

@lo my other theory is that they use very cheap concrete that needs more for the same strength, but idk...
Whenever I see constructions for high rise buildings here in Cambodia I feel like the concrete work is always so massive, idk what they are supposed to sustain... And earthquakes here are minimal afaik. Can anyone explain this? Or is this normal?
@swick oh you moved, where from? and how is your new instance?
@onbywill this is what I think we really need as another official category of GNOME-associated apps, and GNOME circle is not that (atm)
If you are trying to find libadwaita based applications for your needs, then check out https://arewelibadwaitayet.com/
It's a comprehensive list of libadwaita powered Linux applications with over 300 apps currently listed.
Also if you see an app not listed that uses libadwaita, please consider opening an issue or sending a pull request to the project's repository.
GSoC update! @AlleyCH is diving into the Vala compiler to bring native JSON (de)serialization support.
She has been exploring the full compilation pipeline and is working on a new valajsonmodule.vala. Adding native support will make it much easier for Vala developers to work with structured data out of the boxโless boilerplate, better developer experience. โจ
