@G4IVV got to keep the coffee machine going!
Amateur radio (M0VFC) and broadcast radio (cambridge105.co.uk) in my spare time; Security Lead to keep me busy during the day. 🏳️🌈/He/him
@G4IVV got to keep the coffee machine going!
@G4IVV at least they gave us portables more folks to work!
All battery power at G3PYE/P 🙂
@g7soz Brilliant!
@robhague On most tickets, yes, and you do not need to buy the single back to Cambridge North from Cambridge either - you can get off and get back on again to complete the journey:

If anyone Cambridge (UK)-adjacent is looking for a Service Desk Engineer role, my day job team is hiring!
https://www.red-gate.com/our-company/careers/current-opportunities/service-desk-engineer/
(We have a _genuinely awesome_ service desk team, who do far more than you might typically associate with an SDE role, and are all lovely people. Also dedicated Slack channels for cat, dog, and other pet photos.)
@dtl I occasionally wonder such things after rally finds, then remember it's less than £10 for a brand new one that does exactly what I want out of the box!
@vk6flab It's a Krups Vertuo Next, I think. Bluetooth seems to be... so you can check when it needs descaling in the mobile app?
I suspect they put an ESP32 in it for general use and then figured they should do something with that BT radio...
Playing around with some Bluetooth stuff today.
Made a thing that dumped BLE advertisement packets out.
OMG that's a lot of packets.
Wait, they're almost all from one device.
<googles service UUID>
Wait they're all from my Nespresso machine.
Why does my Nespresso machine even have Bluetooth?
And why is it sending 100 packets a second while being apparently switched off?
_Why have I just had to figure out how to put my coffee machine into flight mode..._
@g7soz see, everything you could need to go with your bananas!
@dtl "like" feels like the wrong button to click on this. But... wow...
@thenorthcore @teufen They made a change at the end of last year.
You can no longer suspend and reactivate, but you can move between the plans on a monthly basis, down to the "Inreach Enabled" plan which is 8GBP/month with no included tracking points, and then back up to Essential / Standard / Premium at 15 to 50 GBP per month.
If you cancel entirely then you have to re-activate from scratch, I believe.
@DavidMadeThis ah wonderful, thank you! Will have another go later 🙂.
@DavidMadeThis Very cool! Having a play this evening; one thing I seem to be stuck on is research - I only seem to be able to research substations, not other things, but the mission tells me I need to research conductors. Not entirely clear why I can't do that yet - is it some kind of tech tree? (I've also not yet spotted how you accrue science points!)
@revk I wonder if they're using something like https://docs.aws.amazon.com/iot/latest/developerguide/authorizing-direct-aws.html where you use a long lived cert, out of band, to request short lived temporary credentials that actually get used for the MQTT connection. Normally done within the same device but here they're splitting that apart?
@66seb That's a rare original! Nice!
@66seb Hey! Hope you're keeping well?!
We have talked about it - it's sort of queued up behind a bunch of other work (yep, I still need to sort the website domain out after the rebrand 🙈), and we are gently watching to see where the social media world ends up post the bird site's demise...
So definitely won't rule it out, just need to find the time!
@Jeremy nice to catch you earlier, and hope you had fun! (Masquerading as G3PYE my end)
@neil Thank you for posting these, by the way - they're super interesting reading!
