*I* like it because ... well, I don't *hate* talking to people, but I'm not really interested in what most random hams have to say in a non-DXing/non-contesting context. So for me, FT8 is great - grid loc, reasonably objective signal report, polite good bye. Love it. 🙂

I had some free time today, so I headed out to a State Trail for some #ParksOnTheAir goodness.
I arrived around 17:00z, and hunted my first park by 17:26.
The bands were not great; after a little over three hours, I had only 74 contacts in the log.
There were quite a few Italy stations on, but none of them could hear me.
There was an operator in a park in the Cayman Islands, too, but I couldn't get through to him, either.

Looking west along a State Trail near midday.
The trail is light brown dirt and gravel, a "Strada Bianca".
The trail is lined with grasses and shrubs along both sides.
In the near right is a red post, attached to which is a blue cord with orange flagging tape.
The blue cord leads to the top of a yellow pole a little further along the trail, still along the right side.
In the distance you can make out a second yellow pole, another red post, and the grey ham pod.
The sky is almost completely clouded, with only a small patch of blue visible.
