#Accessibility / #Disability awareness in a nutshell

A screenshot of the Fonus app with a live chat dialog in focus. The live chat is between "Simon Lukas Jaeger" and "Rachel from Fonus".
Simon: Still doesn't work. I'm an accessibility analyst, I know what I'm talking about here. I'm looking at the code for the webpage and you're using images to indicate whether each country supports data or calls. Those images don't have labels, so my screen reader skips them, and since I rely on it, I then can't get that information.
Rachel: The website works just fine
Simon: Yes ... for you ... as a person who doesn't use a screen reader ... of course it works fine.
Rachel: Don't use screen reader.
Simon: Ok, this may be a good time for you to google "What is a screen reader" and save us some back and forth.

It's a stunning (windy) day.

Cityscape interspersed with trees. In the background are snowy mountains, white clouds, and blue sky.

If you change the ?utm_source param of a social link to a swear word, will it show up in some marketing person's slide deck when they present their monthly update to their bosses?

I don't know.

But I might have a new hobby.

@evan@cosocial.ca Ugh I can't decide which way to vote. I like that www is a way to indicate to software that a URL should be a clickable link without including a messy https prefix, but I would prefer software was smart about recognising valid links without any prefix at all.

Hey developers! I’m running a short survey comparing team size, codebase and, lines-of-code, to see if there are noticeable patterns when thinking about the maintenance burden of your codebase. If you’re able to run cloc and don’t mind sharing, it would be great to get your input.
