I hope this visual metaphor can help convey the magnitude of the damage we're witnessing in science... the repercussions will be felt for many generations to come 😢

Yay! Thanks to Laura Tran for interviewing me about my unusual career on The Scientist - I think "Don’t wait for permission. If you love it, keep at it." perfectly summarizes all the 'advice' I have to give 😅

Finishing off #brainawarenessweek with this screen print I designed for @lok_zine a few years ago - it has been hanging in my studio ever since and it makes me so happy. I hope I can find the time to do more of this work! ❤️💛💙

Since it's #brainawareness week, I want to take a break from the ongoing dystopia to celebrate my favorite organ and repost some of my favorite #neuroscience #sciart!

Let's start with this #scifi brain city I just made for an upcoming Italian graphic novel 🧠 🏙

Wow, what an amazing opportunity! I would be tempted to apply myself if I could take the time off. I'll be very jealous of whoever is next fellow 🌿

Yes, many scientists and institutions are feeling anxious right now - and for good reasons - but I sincerely hope they will not compromise on values in exchange for funding.

Fundings come and go, but if we let the government blackmail us into submission, we will forever lose public trust

Particularly like this pattern from “Holtazapffel’s Turning and Mechanical Manipulation” (1884) but check out the extremely dense description of how they created the pattern archive.org/details/Holtzapffe

A sketch inspired by a beautiful metaphor I have recently read in 'The Flowering Wand' by Sophie Strand:

"Sometimes we need to cut down the tree of a monomythic idea in order to get to the more generative root belowground..."

A coppiced tree (cut at its base) with several new shoots emerging from the trunk. Belowground roots and mycelium wrap around a sword, representing the hero's journey.

Two sketches from the past week: one from Overlook Mountain and one from Harlem, 125th Street. I visit some places for pleasure, and some for work, but taking a drawing break always helps me appreciate it more.

Enjoy the last day of Summer 🌞
