#askATP - this might sound sacrilegious to the ‘no modes’ ethos of modern OS design but could a “pro” mode and a “standard” mode toggle be the answer to ipadOS’s interface conundrum and iPad’s identity crisis?

One as simple and clutter-free as the phone and the other packed with features, options, and interface options/window metal, perhaps? Standard Mode on by default on the mini, iPad, and Air, Pro Mode the default on the iPad Pro only. Am I mad to think this?

Had quite a lot of PTSD from your discussion about Pixelmater on @atpfm as I was one of those post production professionals who built my entire expertise around final cut studio (including Shake, Color, Soundtrack Pro, FCP, Motion, DVDStudioPro etc) that all became almost instantly worthless as Apple cancelled most of it in 2011 with no warning, and no replacements with their name.

I’d love them to do ProApps again but would never trust them not to repeat the process.
