I experience severe social anxiety. I use social VR and multiplayer games as therapy and practice for real world situations that cause distress.

I have a lot of fond memories of this game in the beginning, in the early days of #VR, but it's just too much stress now to be worth it.

It makes me so sad to have to stop playing Rec Room permanently. Lots of online games have toxic communities, but for whatever reason, Rec Room appears to be attracting an extreme amount of vileness. Like it feels like it's an organized campaign of harassment against POC and the #LGBT community, and the game doesn't give room hosts and mods the tools to deal with the issue at the scale that it's at (example: world mods have a limited number of room kicks they can do in a given time period).

In the early days of the game industry, companies wrote games in assembly while creating their own game engines and all the tools, targeting severely limited hardware, and no possibility of microtransactions, DLCs, loot boxes, or live services. Yet here we are in 2025 with all of those things and it's too expensive to make video games? Something fishy there

2024-12-30

Pretty sure this is just "frog boiling" by studios as a prelude to saying "So you see we can't make games without AI now, it's too expensive otherwise"

Could y'all do me a favor and if you find me on other services using my other name (if you know you know), please don't acknowledge we're the same person. I'm way more myself on this account than other places and for my own mental health I try not to cross the streams 😅 I can moderate my stream pretty well here, but I can't there.

@Impossible_PhD could even choose a few sacrificial lambs in safe blue states to vote to eliminate the filibuster when the vote goes up. Overcomes the votes of a handful of GOP senators that aren't complete morons and know how bad it would be for them

2024-11-18

@Impossible_PhD excellent analysis. I chatted about this with a friend and came to the conclusion that Dems have a few options: 1) could not fillibuster anything. Hard to enforce, and could backfire. 2) status quo - judicious use of fillibuster, not very effective and gives GOP cover. 3) could fillibuster literally everything, including government funding (except clean funding bills), openly declaring that is what their voters want. Forces the GOP to eliminate the fillibuster and own their shit

Just published a new github repo with my current sandbox/study/sample project for the #Stride3D engine. I'll be expanding it a bit with some other sandbox projects I have locally that need to be cleaned up first. Project is open source, MIT: github.com/JeroMiya/stride3d-s #GameDev

@Fumbles Yeah, that seems to be what lots of people say, but since this is for hobby/fun development I'm going to stick with C# as long as there is support for it in an engine. GDScript and similar languages just aren't my cup of tea personally.

2024-10-30

For the record, I do really like #Stride3D the best in terms of its native C# integration. In that respect, it's the best of the bunch, but there are some missing features that are starting to hurt.

2024-10-30

I've had a lot of fun with #Stride3d #GameDev and I'll probably keep coming back to it, but I'm thinking of migrating over to learning #unity3d and #godot for a while. I want to use godot with C# but it still feels very second class. Anybody know of some good resources for using Godot with C# (examples, recipes, tutorials, guides, etc...)? The engine hasn't yet "clicked" with me, but I'm motivated to make it work.

I spent two days trying to figure out why transformations were not working like I expected... I was reading the gizmo incorrectly - flipping +Z for -Z... Honestly, it feels good to know I'm not insane lol #GameDev #Stride3D

I don't have any upcoming #godot based #gamedev planned, but I decided to make a splash-screen just in case, because reasons... I'm not an artist, but I think it does the job 😉

Simple splash screen that says "Proudly made with Godot". The word "Proudly" is colored in LGBTQ pride colors and there is a poorly drawn brick with shattered glass around it under the word "Proudly".

@garrett The people spreading rumors and misinfo weren't from Godot. I'd say Godot did the best they could under the circumstances. They were receiving a firehose of hate from bad faith people. I don't fault them for actually enforcing the code of conduct, personally. A lot of the hate directed at Godot is due to youtubers/streamers/twitter personalities deliberately spreading misinfo about the Godot team to up engagement.

@loganer @i_cannot_today I mean, I'm just going off of screenshots from official godot discord mods, for what it's worth. I didn't feel like tracking down those kinds of posts on github myself to verify and as you said they'd probably be long gone by now.
