By and large, we're lying to you about how disabled we are.

I don't mean we're *over-stating* how disabled we are.

I mean the opposite - that we're down-playing it.

Why?

Well, now.

If you're in work - you basically have to flat-out lie. We *know* that if we let on just how much we're struggling, we'll be first on the chopping block.

Yes, yes, that's illegal, they can't do that uwu. They won't make you redundant for being disabled, they'll "downsize your department" and then bring in someone with a different job title. This isn't hard to do. It really isn't.

Outside of work:

If you're vocally disabled, you lose friends.

Doesn't sound great, but it's true.

You (fictional able-bodied reader) massively don't want to deal with me being disabled. You don't. You don't want to know that yes, I managed a BBQ yesterday, but the cost was that I can barely move today.

You don't want to think "maybe I shouldn't be banging on about this concert I went to, knowing that Neon can't attend concerts anymore" or "maybe I should think about posting my holiday snaps, knowing that he can barely leave the house".

So you filter it. I fucking *know* that there's another whatsapp group (or whatever) for the "jolly boys meet-up" that I'm not invited to, because no-one wants to deal with me saying "sorry lads, I can't".

So, I fliter what I tell you. I don't want to be entirely excluded, and I want to know that you enjoyed seeing Pulp or whatever. I still want to be part of that conversation, and I know it's awkward, but I dunno that it's me making it awkward. Maybe it is.

And because I'm human, I present the best part of myself - I post about making food, or making a bbq, or whatever.

I don't post that I can only shower once a week now, and have to flannel wash the other days, and that I can only manage to shave once a fortnight, because...well, that makes me feel a little gross, and like I might lose some respect.

So when you look at your disabled friends, and think "well, if they're able to manage everything that they tell me, and everything that they post on social media, then maybe they're not that disabled?"

Think again.

Another creation off the loom. A different pattern which gives differing ribbed looking effect depending on which side you view it from. It rainbows down the length, and the ends in brown one side has 6 rows and other side 19. No one is truly free until we all free.

It’s a bit shy of 5 feet, at 58” ish including fringe. 50/50 wool/alpaca and quite soft but it has a bit of texture from the ribbing look (since its all soft and squishy to me it feels fine, but if you are super sensitive to varying surface heights this may not be for you). The soft ribbing gives a texture to the rainbow stripes so its kinda like a tactile rainbow!

Id like to give this one to a lbgtqia+ person who would enjoy wearing it and wouldn’t be able to afford a bespoke item otherwise. In interest of fairness comment or dm, ill do a wheel spinny thing (probably Thursday) to pick randomly so time zones dont play a huge role. US only for shipping purposes please.

ETA no takers so far...I'm kinda surprised! If you are worried about not fitting the "criteria", don't be. If you aren't sure about the feel of it, as long as you will gift it to someone else who will love it, don't be worried.
