Is "sovereign washing" the new "privacy washing"?

Microsoft, Google, and AWS recently published “sovereign clouds”.

❌ BUT digital sovereignty doesn’t come from shiny new product names such as these “sovereign clouds” - which still must hand out data to US without a warrant based on the CLOUD Act and FISA.

✅ Digital sovereignty comes from full European legal and technical control. Everything else is nothing more than sovereign washing.

Am I the enlightened one? Maybe. 😶‍🌫️

That feeling when I start dropping Linux and open source knowledge and my friends actually listen.

There is a picture where a man is shown sitting on a rock, surrounded by other men, who are looking up to him. There is a rocky landscape in the background with the Sun shining brightly.

Kristi Noem, while governor of South Dakota, supplemented her roughly $130,000 salary by secretly accepting $80,000 donated to a political nonprofit she was affiliated with, records show.

She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.

A good piece (as usual) by @davidgerard pivot-to-ai.com/2025/06/03/let

I actually think advertising (along with it's cousin- propaganda) is the one arena in which GenAI makes genuine sense as providing an improvement over human labor.

Most other jobs that "AI" can replace are not because the "AI" has the capability to be better than a human, but because it's significantly cheaper.

But advertising? Where being factual is not the priority and rapid deployment is rewarded? Yeah... makes sense.

Billionaires and the establishment threw all the money in the world to steal this election from New Yorkers. They lost badly. Never underestimate the power everyday people have when they organize ✊️

#Zohran won! Get ready for a thousand more zohrans across the country even if they manage some trick to bring him down. it is no coincidence Trump has called a ceasefire. Proving you can win without #MIC backing is the only way to stop forever wars!

Dia contains some pretty neat stuff, and keeps a lot of good ideas, but loses three of the features I particularly loved about Arc (autohiding vertical tab bar, one-press profile switching, the floating command palette). I think the writing is on the wall for those across browsers. Boooo.

It’s nice to see others embrace it.

A whopping 38.8 million posts were acted upon in total, meaning they were either removed, suppressed, or the user was banned"

Air pollution has dropped significantly in #Paris in the last 15 years as a result of a deliberate strategy. Mayor @annehidalgo.bsky.social’s leadership has traded car space for green space, safe bike space, kid space.. and traded pollution for people. Good trade.
