Good news everyone – Faircamp 1.4 is out 🎉, and earlier today #faircamp turned 1000¹ !

Feature Highlight: The new site_assets² and site_metadata³ options, allowing you to include custom assets (css, js, images, anything you like) as well as custom metadata (your own meta/link/script/etc. tags that are injected into every page's <head>…</head> section) on all pages of your faircamp site.

Also included: Minified css+js assets⁴ - now enabled in the debian builds, roman-style track numbers beyond 40 (thanks @ice for the report) and a dozen substantial fixes (many thanks to session and @sunny for reporting/contributing to those!).

Lastly, special shout-out to @thurti who previously contributed a draft PR for the custom css functionality!

This release was made possible through the amazing support by @nlnet and the european commission's @EC_NGI initiative - thank you so much!

Faircamp is a static site generator for audio producers, for more information and downloads check out: simonrepp.com/faircamp/

And that's all. Cheers everyone for your support! \(^ヮ^)/

¹ Number of commits now in the 4 digits: codeberg.org/simonrepp/faircam
² How to use site_assets: simonrepp.com/faircamp/manual/
³ How to use site_metadata: simonrepp.com/faircamp/manual/
⁴ This gives an impression how light-weight faircamp sites are: post.lurk.org/@freebliss/11418

Usage examples of site_assets and site_metadata in Faircamp 1.4:

First example:
-- site_metadata
<meta name="fediverse:creator" content="@JohnMastodon@example.com"/>
-- site_metadata

Second example:
site_assets: marker.svg

-- site_metadata
<style>
    a { text-decoration-thickness: .2em; }
    ul {
        list-style: georgian inside url("{{marker.svg}}");
        padding-left: 0;
    }
</style>
-- site_metadata

Third example:
site_assets:
- custom.css
- marker.png

#HCIReview You Should Have Stayed Home: How to Captivate an Audience in VR Theatre (dl.acm.org/doi/abs/10.1145/350) - CHI PLAY ‘22, demo paper on the VR theater piece (CHI ‘24). The plot is better explained in this one as well as the audience interaction. The highlight is the three dimensions of participation (spectator-participant), agency (predetermined-open-ended) and embodiment (external-internal), where various media (VR theater, tabletop role playing games, digital games, escape rooms etc) are mapped.

1/2
The Internet of Dead Things is a collective book that takes as its starting point the MinitelSE project by Jérôme Saint-Clair, ex-artist, and Benjamin Gaulon, French artist, teacher-researcher and cultural producer. MinitelSE is an Open Source operating system running on dedicated hardware designed for the Minitel of the 1980s.

With their Internet of Dead Things Institute, this artistic, critical and satirical startup explores the potential for reuse of computer hardware considered obsolete, and in particular the Minitel.
After an introduction by Alessandro Ludovico, researcher, artist and editor-in-chief of Neural magazine since 1993, the first chapters of this book, written by Régine Debatty, Belgian reporter, art critic and founder of we-make-money-not-art.com , Benjamin Gaulon and Jerome Saint-Clair offer a history of the project, a brief history of the Minitel and a deceptively corporate presentation of IoDT.

Teresa Dillon, Irish artist and teacher-researcher, then turns to notions of repair, maintenance and artistic accidents. Nicolas Nova, who passed away on the last day of 2024, a Franco-Swiss socio-anthropologist, researcher, teacher and curator, offers us an autobiographical history of his youth in France in the 80s, centered around this precursor object of the web. Lori Emerson, American teacher-researcher, explains the importance of preserving information and communication technologies through her media archaeology laboratory in Boulder (USA). Garnet Hertz, Canadian artist and teacher-researcher, proposes a vision of media archaeology centered on practice, notably through circuit bending and other forms of hacking.

Here is a blog post I quickly wrote with some tips to get started and keep the good fedi-vibe going, so we can keep it cool, caring and weird:

Edit : I found my internship, thank you everyone for reposting :)

Just migrated from my mastodon.social account to the post.lurk.org instance (thank you @rra for the invite and the ressources :unwanted_love:) So... here is my little #Introduction post (also a post of me searching for an internship lol) :
Hi, I'm Zineb, I am a moroccan girly pop who loves to code, to draw and to sing :3
Currently in the first year of my Master's degree in Communication at the Ésac art school in Cambrai (france), I'm searching for an #internship in the field of #graphicdesign, especially with collectives enthusiastic about #webtoprint and #opensource tools (like me!).
I mainly code with #HTML and #CSS, and I am currently learning #javascript.
I can speak fluently french, english and arabic. I also have some basic knowledge in spanish.
In terms of location, I'm seeking an internship in #Belgium, the #Netherlands, #Germany or the region of Paris.
(Oh, forgot to mention that I can have an erasmus/internship grant :unwanted_smirk:)
