I find this book endlessly helpful and fascinating in the kitchen. Fabulous at reducing food waste yet keeping your food interesting and creative. I mean, who would have known about cherry stems and stones? Also, there is a rhubarb fermented bubbly drink that I will try in Spring.

Boil lentils in a pan for 25 mins. Meanwhile:
Grind seeds in a pestle & mortar.
In a pan with oil, fry the garlic & ginger and VERY soon add the aubergine too. Stir around, then add the crushed seeds, let them toast, stir again. Add the turmeric, tomato puree, salt, & enough hot water to cover. (Chilli if you wish.) Let these bubble for 10 mins.
Drain the lentils and add. Cook together for 5 mins, until not-too-wet, then sprinkle with garam, & serve.

1 aubergine (in "fat finger" pieces)
1 clove garlic (chopped)
100g green lentils (rinsed)
2cm root ginger (chopped)
2 tsp coriander seed
2 tsp mustard seed
1 tsp cumin seed
1 tsp turmeric
2 tsp tomato puree
1 pinch salt
1 tsp garam masala

Finally an alcohol-free beer I can shout about, here in Finland. How often is it you say "I wish I'd bought more of that alkofrei beer"?!? Suomenlinna's "Ton IPA" is a lovely clear IPA with a hint of peach in the scent, and a fresh foamy mouthfeel. It has a thin body, but we could that its style. It's great! #alcoholfree #nolo
