It's a tea-saster! A catastroph-tea! Atha, whose vessel origin is British, is left without a working electric kettle after the Vulpibus kettle was damaged by fire, by chemicals and by falling. Seriously, that kettle has seen some things.

Can we get a new one? The cheap plastic ones start from like $14, a metal one that might last longer is probably a bit pricier.

And maybe a pizza? It's been months since the Vulpibus folks enjoyed one.

In better news though, all the solar panels are up on the Vulpibus now! Yay!

No dianhong today because I can only have one cup on black tea but my box from Dobra came and I am spoiled for choice on my second cup! I’m going to drink duck shit oolong and find out if this is actually awesome or overhyped. #tea

Today’s black tea is Jolie Tea Company’s tinsel & fir blend. I was apprehensive after yesterday’s disappointment but this is really nice, it’s a standard Ceylon blend with mint and juniper berries and some stuff. #tea

Last night in a bout of insomnia I watched a bunch of different tea ceremony videos, both Chinese and Japanese. Today, staring into space in my kitchen, decided I'd make a quick cup of tea, just bung some into a tea ball and dunk in hot water... Except! I did the Gongfu Cha brewing thing where you "rinse" the leaves with hot water, to get rid of harsh tannins and ritually purify crud off the leaves.

And wow it's so much nicer, I've been making tea wrong my entire life!

I’m trying not to buy more tea or tea things until after my wife and I move, but that hasn’t stopped me from scoping out my next purchases: a gongfu tray, a gaiwan (!!), a glass teapot, and a teapot warmer. This is what I’m planning for my tax return, plus an ounce of Yunnan golden silk so I can see what the hype is about. #tea

This morning I tried a tea from Jolie Tea Company that smelled quite intensely and tasted so little that I poured it out and spent my day’s black tea allowance on a cup of golden needle. I’m keeping the Jolie Tea blend to try another time, or pass forward as appropriate.
