I am very happy that today we merged the pull request switching the Mastodon frontend build chain from the very old (and outdated) Webpack 4 to @vite ⚡️

It is not visible to end-users but it will greatly improve the developer experience with working on the Mastodon frontend and opens the door for many good things.

I started the initial work 2 years ago, then @chaosexanima took over and got it over the finish line 🚀

Enjoyed this post from Malwarebytes about how AI is getting creepy good at guessing the geo-location of photos/videos by analyzing the tiniest of clues.

When analyzing videos with audio, e.g., apparently just having a few birds chirping in the background can be enough to make a strong guess about where the video was recorded.

Dürfte eine zeitlich verzögerte Auswirkung des Parkpickerls sein.

Immer wieder faszinierend, wie da niemand zuständig ist. Es gibt also offensichtlich großen Bedarf an Park&Ride, aber da kommt nix. Die SCS-Gegend würde ja keinen ästhetischen Schäden nehmen, wenn zB bei den ersten beiden Badner Bahn-Stationen außerhalb Wiens große Parkhäuser stünden.

Die Badner Bahn wird ausgebaut und der Takt verdichtet. In NÖ herrscht aber Öffi-Wüste, weil eh alle ab 18 ein Auto haben, also muss es ja keine gut getakteten Zubringer geben. Dann ist halt alles an den verlässlichen Transportmitteln (Schnellbahn, Badner Bahn, früher U-Bahn in Wien) komischerweise zugeparkt.

Sowas wie einen übergeordneten Blick auf den Mobilitätsbedarf, der da dahinter steckt, darf sich eines sowieso nicht erwarten.
