New phone *with a headphone jack*, anyone?

A tablet with integrated ad and tracker blocking?! Is that even possible?
Another new addition to our lineup is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 with iodéOS!
As a media streaming device or a productivity tool you will finally be able to use a tablet without compromising your privacy thanks to the @iode blocker integrated system-wide to eliminate data collection and advertisements.
Remember the long-since-expunged Android philosophy? "We also wanted to make sure there was no central point of failure, where one industry player could restrict or control the innovations of any other." Because the Wayback Machine remembers (https://web.archive.org/web/20140702115900/https://source.android.com/source/index.html)…
For the next week or so ill be rocking two phones... why? Because the lovely people at @iode have sent me over a test device to try out their de-googled android offering.
Ive been a big fan of @e_mydata for many years now and as far as im concerned more options in the degoogled space is good for all of us! Watch out for a video in coming weeks for my verdict!

Hello mastodon.social, just migrating here from #fosstodon, since #wejustcanthavenicethings I guess 🙂
I wasn't a heavy poster there but alas time to start afresh regardless.
@techcelt yes certainly try them both! Fairphone5 is an excellent choice. Let me know what you think of iodé, we can help with any papercuts or questions
@techcelt So for me "privacy YES", "community YES", "sustainability YES", "security YES but not priority 1" if it means the others are not YES 🙂
I build @iode images for all older pixel devices (2 - 5 series) that have been dropped by Calyx and Graphene as "insecure", for example. Daily driver is still a Pixel 3a that I bought for Ubuntu Touch back in the day :-)

@techcelt For similar reasons, I am not enthused by some of the communications and opinions of Graphene, for example, even though it is a much more hardened solution than the others.
Well, in addition, I prefer open source microG over sandboxed and unprivleged (yet still proprietary) Google Play Services. Yes, microG needs to talk to those closed services, but the more we can openly reimplement closed services the better in my book (even though there are bugs).

@techcelt well that is an excellent question. I certainly did seriously evaluate it, and it was a strong contender (I have run /e/ for a few years, and Ubuntu Touch before that for several years).
I think it came down to the community and it being an ecosystem I could more easily endorse to my friends and family as an ethically better option than stock.

@MichaelTunnell @DestinationLinux @dasgeek @TuxDigital ?? never !!
Of course the
@DestinationLinux crowd certainly keeps privacy focused mobile devices in the conversation, but without @dasgeek being too active here, does @MichaelTunnell as the mastermind behind the
@TuxDigital mega-conglomerate super-verse have any suggestions? :-)
Any suggestions on how to market de-Googled Android devices (pre-installed with @iode) to people in the USA *without using Google ads*? 🙂
Pro: very rare to find another seller selling iodéOS phones in the USA.
Con: no one knows about them even existing.
Hmm the @latenightlinux chaps such as @felimwhiteley are typically talking about either a totally de-googled experience (no @microg) or I know that @joeress has run @LineageOS a fair bit in the past, maybe with Play Services, not microG?
Hello world! Just getting this party started 🙂
