I've just caved and set up Google calendar and contacts access BUT I've done it through #davx5 and am using the default calendar and contacts apps which came with #lineage.
Long-term I think it would be fun to move away from having #Google manage that data for me (maybe using #radicale and #syncthing? https://forum.syncthing.net/t/how-to-sync-contacts-and-calendars-between-desktop-and-android-without-root/21326) but that can be an adventure for another day.

Bijna 2 maand later ... en I love it. Heel fijn en degelijk toestel. E/os werkt ook gewoon heel erg goed op een heel intuïtieve manier zonder al te veel toeters en bellen die je toch niet wil of nodig hebt. Ik doe meestal 2 volle dagen met 1 acculading ⚡❤️ #degoogled #deappled #fairphone6 #eos

Übrigens: die App der ING funktioniert sogar auf meinem gerooteten Android, mit Custom ROM, und ohne jegliche Google Play-Dienste installiert.

Ich hatte mir extra einen TAN-Generator bestellt und eingerichtet, aber aus reinem Interesse die App installiert; und siehe da: die funktioniert entgegen allen Erfahrungsberichten komplett einwandfrei!
Nur halt keine Benachrichtigungen, aber das ist ja ohne Push Service eh normal.

Has anyone else went full blown deGoogle? I'm currently using f-droid and obtainium on a Chinese ROM Xiaomi 14 Ultra (No Google Play installed) some apps have to come from either apk mirror or Aurora, but without Google play services installed I try to avoid it. No Google is the goal, and that breaks a portion of these apps.

#Google photo : la récupération des 46000 photos (600 GO), puis la suppression de celles-ci => une horreur à faire ! => quelques semaines pour trouver le script python qui permet de récupérer les 12x50 GO + le script qui permet de regrouper l'ensemble des .zip du google takeout = vraiment pas simple et non documenté d'ailleurs (je suis sur le coup)
#Gmail : lister tous les comptes "importants" pour lesquels modifier mon compte et changer l'email de contact / connexion = quelques semaines
#Drive : tout récupérer et transférer
#Smartphone : Installer @GrapheneOS parce que c'est #degoogled => pas compliqué pour moi mais je pense au commun des mortels => il va falloir éduquer !!! Installé en août 25 => au top jusque la. Merci et continuez la lutte actuelle.
Et je ne parle que de GOOGLE.... il y a META aussi et les autres #techBros (spotify, amazon, apple, microsoft etc.)
Processus en cours, je ne suis pas pressé, je suis motivé à tout couper.

I managed to disable Google Play Services on my standard #Android phone. First i diabled all #Google apps and replaced some with open source ones, like the Phone and SMS apps. Then i removed the Google account and disabled the Google Play Store and Services. After still getting some error messages and taking care of those apps, the phone is now running calm without complaining.
Now i wonder, how far am i away in privacy from if i had bought a #degoogled phone or installed a degoogled os?

Wieso haben wir überhaupt die #eID und die #AusweisApp, wenn wir gleichzeitig noch das #Postident haben?? Wieso muss in Deutschland immer alles drei, vier redundante Lösungen für alles haben?
Postident-App geht nicht auf #degoogled #Android, die Videoverifikation soll auch auf dem PC gehen, aber Infos dazu gibt es nicht; funktionieren tut's auch ned.
Das heißt, ich muss jetzt stattdessen zu ner Postfiliale latschen. Toll, danke.
Freu mich schon drauf, wenn diese Offline-Optionen ganz abgeschafft werden. Ich hab ja schon die eID aktivieren müssen, weil man ohne #Elster nicht mehr selbstständig sein kann. Aber da ist die AusweisApp wenigstens #FOSS und funktioniert auf meinem gerooteten Smartphone.

It’s not too hard to install deGoogled android on supported older devices, and it’s definitely worth the effort.
If you don’t want to install it yourself, there are also phones that come with de-Googled Android out of the box.

Sure, there's #SeedVault. Use with #webdav target or stow away a device-local file to a safe storage via #syncthing. The same for photos/media files.
But SeedVault excludes many apps like @signalapp or @threemaapp which has a buch of manual backup options hidden deep in the settings.
Can I automate that somehow?
