@skyglowberlin From the way the lights were counted, is it possible to make any value judgements on unnecessary vs. necessary? For example, lights that make the sidewalk more visible would add to public safety vs. lighting up the inside of office buildings when everyone is gone.

At one point you say something like, “also important for light polution”, which I assumed was THE point of the work. If not that, what can the newfound knowledge be applied to?

I did it.

I had the conversation with the owner of the gym we go to. I have official sanction to use the right toilets and changing rooms, and they think what's happening to us is terrible.

@vonFriedland That means a lot. I actually felt that. I’m 67 and it’s the first protest I’ve ever attended. It was very moving to be amongst so many people who won’t stand by and allow this.

It would be cool if I could tell you what plant this is, but all I know is I captured the photo in Palm Desert, California. Maybe someone else can identify?

@shannonkay At the rally today in the South Bay of Los Angeles, we noted that most of the 10,000 people were old white folks. We realized it’s our job to show up now. We’re safe (mostly) and we need to stand up. At one point a hispanic woman drove by honking the horn and taking video and as we all hollered and waved signs … and then she began to cry. I’ll never forget how we both felt.

So it seems like millions of people turned out to protest Trump and help turn the tide against him. Poor orange boy’s parade got rained on and was sparsely attended and even his wife fell asleep a couple times during it. Top it all off with the #RedSox beating the Yankees (again) and this was a pretty good day.

Me: Because when I was out I heard one of my favorite songs

Son: You were at the grocery store

Me: Yeah that’s where I hear all my clubbing days music

Son: That’s really sad, Mom
