The efforts of sex work advocates are better invested, says Stabile, in campaigning for new laws that would make it illegal for banks to discriminate against sex workers on the basis of their profession, than in developing an alternative financial system.

Been dealing w/ a heart condition called atrial fibrillation for many years, and for a long time medicine kept it under control. Until recently. Was told that the new Apple watches will let you know when/if you're in afib. I already had an older one but all the literature said the newer was better at afib detection and monitoring.

I've found that while there were a few times over the past few months where the watch has alerted me to my heart being in afib, it's more the exception than the rule. Because apparently I've been in afib long enough w/out noticing that the heart thinks this is normal. Got a real heart monitor and found out it's pretty much in afib all the time.

Obviously, this is less than ideal, and we're looking at various treatment options. The point of this post, however, is just to say that if you're counting on your Apple watch to let you know if your afib is under control, you probably shouldn't.

Even if CO₂ emissions decreased annually as much as during the pandemic lockdown, we wouldn't achieve our climate targets.

While individuals made huge sacrifices, the system remained. This shows that individual action will not solve climate change. We need the system to change.

Global CO₂ Emissions showing that CO₂ emissions continue to increase. To Limit warming to 1.5°C (>50%) with no or limited overshoot, we need to decrease emissions by 48% relative to 2019. The graph shows that even if CO₂ emissions decreased annually as much as it did during the pandemic lockdown between now and 2030, we would not decrease CO₂ emissions by 48% relative to 2019.

This twitter-migration chaos is frustrating. People in my communities have scattered to twitter, the fediverse, bluesky, and threads. Some dropped out altogether.

As a result, I spend a LOT more time trying to find interesting discussions across the platforms, and really none of the discussions are nearly as interesting because the interplay between people is mostly gone (because only a fraction is on each).

I hope 3 of them fade away soon.

Vaginal atrophy: There is no equivalent term for male genitals. While penises and testicles also shrink with age, medicine rarely describes them as atrophying. While there is a new term for vaginal atrophy (GSM), it has failed to catch on.

70% of US fathers return to work within 2 weeks after the birth of their child. Only 13% of private employers offer paid paternity leave. We need federal law to mandate paid parental leave & orgs to encourage and even mandate fathers to take it.

Once libraries are nonexistent any modern fascist movement wouldn't even have to burn books, but flick one switch and they'd be remotely deleted from your Amazon Kindle or similar digital “library”.

Capitalists are already building the infrastructure to do this through DRM, so stop believing tech is apolitical - the defunding of libraries and paywalling of information are all part of this. :trantifa:

Most of the greenhouse pollution is being done for the benefit of rich people -- by far.

THIS is what I need to find in , someone interested in this ! I just don't have it in me to photgraph and list all the stuff I need to sell. There is really a lot of money to be had if someone wants to give it a go or is really good at it, I can identify great deals, write good copy, but I suck at photography & right now have no energy for this. sidehustlenation.com/consignme
