@britown Got any recommended tutorials? This is probably something I could use too, both in gamedev and non-gamedev projects. Been a Makefile user forever mainly due to the ubiquity.
Software developer and educator by day, game developer by night. Always learning.

I don't want to be at work, I'd rather be at home procrastinating on my video game projects. #gamedev
@carbontwelve @vampiress This makes me nostalgic and sad for the old MUD "NuclearWar" I used to play in the late 90s. Looks like a blast, can't wait to try it out later. Adding the day-limited door game mechanics is a nice touch too!
Spending some time this evening playing Swords of Freeport by @vampiress, a wonderful #TextMode game.
If that sounds like your kind of game go and check it out over here: https://expectproblems.itch.io/swords-of-freeport
@britown I like it! It has a soft lullaby quality to it. I imagine exploring a magical cave area, or hearing this during a JRPG intro screen / text.
I don't have any real expertise here, other than enjoying ambient music, but something to consider might be to add a few off-tempo "sounds", depending on what you want to use this for. Something less musical. Think like a random note / tone representing a drop of water, or a falling rock. Original Metroid tracks would be an example.
Might try to do Looptober this year! Day 1, made in RP-8: https://luchak.itch.io/rp8
A few tweaks, a little adjusting here and there, and many MANY code rewrites and I finally get it to do what I want. #pico8 #screenshotsaturday #arcade #Remake
@minionsoft Oof! Right in my nostalgia!
Looks beautiful - fantastic work!
@Ludokultur I feel like if I was asked this question, 80% of the list would change depending on what stage of life I was in at the time.
Just because the rest of you have given up on this old sci fi aesthetic, doesn't mean I have to. I need it into my veins through intravenous drip please.
Finished my first draft of all the "Power Ups" for #projectclyde ! Still pretty new to #pixelart but I can already see things I want to tweak later. I was considering giving these each a "floaty" animation but I think I'll skip that for now and put it on the list of polishing tasks.
Also loving the #aseprite CLI tools for dumping spritesheets.
You know you're in for a great time when the in-game currency is 'Crumbs'

🤔
An 8/16 bit style RPG where you travel the world collecting retro games, and then have turn-based battles with other collectors where your "moves" are nerdy arguments about the various merits of your games or demerits of your opponent's games.
Collector X used "PFFT, that's just a blatant ripoff of Pokemon!"
It's Super Effective!
Listening to some #OCRemix #gamemusic while working on my pixel art this morning. Can't believe how long this community has been around. Some extremely talented folks have contributed to the catalogue over the years.
Here's a nice place to stream it if that's your thing:

@harbonaut That song will be forever burned into my memory from the arcade I used to frequent to play Mortal Kombat II. Loudest thing in the entire arcade.
@c_a_schiller oh man, I haven't thought about Phantasmagoria in forever 😆
I do appreciate seeing an OG Gameboy in such good shape too 👍
If you're learning #godot, you're going to need this.

This doughnut took entirely too long to create for a first draft, and I'm still not terribly happy with it.
Still a decently productive day at least...
