Hi, I've enjoyed my stay here but that time is ending, since techies.social is shutting down. Thanks for the good times @eescobar (looks like you already moved).

I am packing up my bags now and moving over to saraverse@hachyderm.io.

Will do the migration thingy and hope to see you there!

I'll have to manually re-post my poems so as to not lose them. Please bear with me.

@emilio I'm trying to take care of this today or tomorrow

2023-03-07

@emilio thanks a lot, I appreciate it.

2023-03-07

@emilio hey, I understand. Yes I can but this week is really nuts and I'd like to find the right place to go. Can I have another week or so? Thanks for hosting me while you were here.

No Regrets

When one's satisfied
It's hard to look back
And wish to change anything

My trauma
The things that hurt
The things that numbed
Happened

But now we're here
Us three
Under the oaks
Nestled in snow

You let me be me
Sharing all I feel
No need to justify
The space I take

I'm wiser now
And we have our family
So no regrets
Just acceptance

@BobWilliams yes! That's why I liked Rust Valley Restorers

Big revelation: cheese!
Many a bite size piece
Discovery of umami
You wiggle, "more please Mommy!"

@carnage4life A touchy subject -- do you have a take on the Colonialism aspects? I'd love to watch it but if there are more white savior motifs / cultural appropriation, I probably can't enjoy it.

2022-12-19

@carnage4life honestly thrilled you're here. It's great, low anxiety. Lots of academia is here too.

@evonity thank you for the encouragement! We are hanging in there. It won't last until 6 Thankfully I married a very supportive person - we survive together.

You might be deeply asleep, but you are a ninja at making sure at least one finger is in contact with your momma's arm or hand or cheek at all times.

Home is where we are (including Papa).

@jkosseff absolutely, I am in read-only mode over there except my links to Mastodon. Not even liking or retweeting any more.

2022-12-14

@Astro_Jmona @mcnees My only other trick is to try changing something in your profile to jog it to check again. If still not working you can submit a bug in GitHub.

2022-12-14

@mcnees nice, happy to help!

@mcnees try https:// if you haven't.

@BobWilliams hey Bob, welcome back! Thanks for sharing your observations. It's so hard to not use SM as a coping mechanism.
Here at my fam is ill with all manners of bugs and viruses. Hope hope to write more once I feel better!
Meanwhile I also learned that everything I "publish" here can't be submitted to any poetry publications (at least any I found so far), which is not cool, but I strongly prefer a sense of community here to the prestige of being published. So I'll keep going!

Back from my vacation/digital disconnect, it was good. Very interesting to observe the effects.

Things I learned:

Keeping my mind occupied is a coping mechanism. Intentionally not doing that was tough but helpful in finding my baseline. I had been more stressed than I realized.

Especially when traveling, it's very hard not to use your phone. AirBNB communications, maps, restaurants etc. My lowest day of usage was 3 minutes. By the end my daily average was about 48 minutes.

With all of the horrible things happening in the world, it’s nice to find the wins. Especially in the area of our environment. A group called Coral Guardian is restoring coral reefs, and it’s quite magnificent.

These photos represent 7 years of work on the Indonesia’s Hatamin Island. In this they have increased the fish population by 5x with 53k corals restored.

More wins like this, please.
