It is quite a news day here in the US. I won’t toot about it, but whewwwww.
Yeah, “cliche–generating” is kinda what my spouse and I were getting at the other day, looking at various examples. So far, at least, the default responses don’t care about being perfect (or even fully correct), they just aim to satisfy the prompt well enough. I like the word used here: satisficing.

Some of the things are online here too: https://www.bowdoin.edu/art-museum/exhibitions/2023/mina-loy.html
Happened to catch the #MinaLoy exhibit at Bowdoin Art Museum on Saturday. It’s her first solo exhibition since 1959 (which was curated by Marcel Duchamp). Utterly fascinating. I’ve know her mostly through her #poetry but her visual #art is varied and some of it groundbreaking. I really loved the assemblages and #collages in her later period—they prefigure Rauschenberg and directly inspired Joseph Cornell. Just wow. Up through mid September. The book is also stunning.

Helen Frankenthaler on #Printmaking. (#Lithography in this case.)
Spring has a run of my fave holidays, since they are all secular and there’s not really any shopping: 4/20, Arbor Day, and May the Fourth.
I don’t love doing this bit, but they do look swell in their mats.
Pulled off Masonite panelling covering VJ walls in our queenslander and found a cool aquarium.

Nice hike in the ferns and redwoods on this misty muddy day. #Oakland #Mosstodon
@Judeet88 😂 cleaning wires. I think I need to clean some myself.
@abolitionbb I’m using one of the Speedball kits that I got as a gift a while back. I don’t have the right light and other things to try the photo emulsion method yet though, so that will be next. I’ve seen a few people doing small prints with embroidery hoops as the frame and plastic store cards as the squeegee, which is pretty low-barrier.
Here’s an idea for an #Artist #Introduction - share your mediums and art styles as hashtags so we can all find each other and marvel at the cool stuff being made out there in the Fediverse! Maybe share a sample photo of your work too! Here are mine:

And here’s a recent Gouache study I did! #MastoArt #ArtistIntroductions
@lifewithtrees Thanks! Using the Metatext app for iPad (which I realize is not supported anymore but I haven’t had time to look into an alternative yet). But Home feed is showing now that I’ve posted. I think it was a momentary glitch that just refreshing and logging in/out was not fixing for some reason.
@Judeet88 Thanks! I was wondering if a lag happened if I had not logged in for a bit. Been so busy I’ve had to restrict socials use. :) I can see the feed now after I made a post, so it does seem temporary.
April was a haul, so I didn’t get nearly as much written as I hoped. But, whelp, some is better than none! Now that May is here, I’ve been preparing for my first #Art fair of the year, which is this weekend in #PortlandMaine. I’ve also been learning #ScreenPrinting, and @bloofbooks has a new book to launch.
My home feed is blank. What does that mean?
I am no where near “daily” on the drafts. I think I have 8 out of 22. I’ll try to do better after she does tomorrow, but I’m soaking up every minute till then.
