Gel pens and white gesso on 5"x7" paper
For me a print can be made from any repeatable mark making process. In addition to pen plotting my prints usually include manual media application techniques like stencils.
Done! Hopefully! Will do test prints tomorrow! I'm just so happy to be done in time. This was the first time I've carved wood and it was a bit too ambitious print for a first try
Recent attempt at scaling up a smaller print to 18"x24". Not too excited with it but it has some nice moments.
Gel pens and acrylic paint on Arches paper
First stage proof of a 10 x 10 cm linocut on Awagami Kozo paper. Wondering if I want to inject more light or leave it as it is.
In thinking (still) of a title, I remember the eyes of one of the crew of a support boat who had sailed across a stormy Irish Sea in advance of shepherding us from Ireland to Wales in a rowing race: ‘The sea! The sea!’. If you’ve read Conrad’s ‘Heart of darkness’, you’ll perhaps see another route that the title comes from.
This one of a kind artwork made with cyanotype images on water colour paper and collaged cyanotype images on assorted handmade Japanese washi papers, 11” x 14”. The cyanotypes include images of leaves, wildflowers, and maple keys.
A cyanotype is an early photographic method, first used in 1842, which produces a cyan blue print used today for monochromatic art or blueprints.

A new piece of a new body of work- about the indieweb, art, computers, coding as craft, etc. 2-3 color linocut?
New print! The Common Kestrel is the 2025 bird of the year in The Netherlands. Known for its typical hovering in the air, on the lookout for prey. This male here is shown with its back towards us to show off the black and brown pattern there.

Formosan Sika Deer keep their spots long after they grow into adulthood.
They are indigenous to Taiwan, and I've included them in my newest #woodcut and #printmaking projects as a part of familial storytelling.

I finally picked up some decent kozo paper to run an small edition of my "Giant Claw" print.
Linework is carved into a block of japanese katsura, and background plate is linoleum. A bit of a pain to set up registration, but not terrible overall. Overall I'm very pleased with the result.
As for the inspiration, "The Giant Claw" is a terrible monster movie from 1957 about our little guy here, and I just love it to death.
One pleasant surprise when I joined Bluesky earlier this year is how robust and active the #printmaking community is here.

It searches for a variety of print-related terms and filters out AI content.

I was scrolling through the meme-art of David Shrigley and I found this gem.

I should hang this in my office because it describes the core of being a researcher, R&D engineer, and start-up advisor.
edit: the preview image is not the same as the linked image (might be intentional?)

Still obsessed with the cutest nesting strategy going. The Eastern Snail Shell Mason Bee (Osmia conjuncta) is a small North American blue bee which makes nests in suitable empty snail shells! In my linocut I show this adorable little pollinator with a Cepaea shell. Each print is 8” by 8” on delicate Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper.
