I'm not on the "big boys" anymore for a lot of the same reasons many here aren't, but I'm not one to cast shade on creatives or anyone else with sincere intentions that stay

And I agree - main parts of the fediverse are still wonky in some ways. My hobbies are fairly represented here, but a lot "mainstream" interests are practically non-existent

I despise Meta, but my gut tells me they figure it out eventually and become the "new Twitter", but why aren't close yet

But my creator friends would likely give up a kidney for the right exposure... They all joke about the "Chinese government", but honestly give zero f's who is behind any platform they run or how bad it is as long as it delivers eyeballs and customers

The average "hustle culture wanna be their own brand" users are at best years away from caring.. they still value exposure over all else

Nearly every independent creator I know has tried #BlueSky and #Threads

About half gave #Mastodon a try; some skipped it altogether

The verdict : the majority are still posting more on #Twitter than their "new socials" combined

Some are slowly trying to transition to #Instagram but hate the inability to link

To a creator, they nearly all agree #TikTok is the big whale they want, but it's exhausting to keep up with

Verdict - #Elon will have to pull the plug to get them to ever leave Twitter

When #Meta follows through by integrating #ActivityPub with #Threads, understanding and leveraging the ActivityPub protocol will become one of the most important tools in every online app / game / web developer's toolbag to help advertise...er.. integrate their product.

Usage of the protocol will begat larger scale adoption, and SaaS ActivityPub integration services will become a standard.

There is a lot of potential money for early adopting software developers to make over the next few years

I don't want #socialmedia used to #train any #LLM - period

Especially if they level up from #MachineLearning and truly become #sentient

Not that I'm ethically opposed to it, I just don't want an #AI driven #model to be that stupid

Tusky is the Android app I use for Mastodon.

I've tried a few more (Megaladon is one), but Tusky was the one that stuck.

There really aren't a lot... 🤷‍♂️

#Meta gives few shits about "scraping the (current) #fediverse" - it's pocket change to them; their data cache is YUGE

They want #Threads to be the darling #Twitter was with celebs.. TV and media talking about "threading" (?) and not "tweeting"

..and they have the money and #Instagram footprint to make that happen out the chute

Long-term if #ActivityPub sticks with them? I could see them pushing users to run micro-instances, alleviating some of their #infrastructure and #moderation concerns

Legit top flight celebs have yet to make a call on "their" true #Twitter replacement

Given that #Threads is literally days away from launch, will be tethered to #Instagram, and has the money of #Meta behind it, I don't see #Bluesky having any real shelf life

Plebs follow celebs plain and simple

Regardless of how Threads truly integrates with #ActivityPub #Mastodon and other #fediverse communities will be much more resilient since our existence isn't solely reliant on clout chasing and #FOMO
