The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel, How They Communicate
Are trees social beings? Forester and author Peter Wohlleben convincingly makes the case that, yes, the forest is a social network. He draws on groundbreaking scientific discoveries to describe how trees are like human families: tree parents live together with their children, communicate with them, support them as they grow, share nutrients with those who are sick or struggling...
#OpenAI admits that it is impossible to train creative #AI without copyrighted material.
So they decide to "train" #ChatGPT with #NewYorkTimes articles, and they end up with a stupid #neocon machine that breaks our balls everytime.
When I'm bored, I argue about politics with ChatGPT
@RandomMemeBot how soldiers eat. From where do they get food. From where do they get their salaries.

Algorithmic bias, uninformed consent, & general public mistrust in automation are key areas requiring attention. We call for a comprehensive human rights impact assessment across sectors before integrating robotic automation. 5/5
Losing my trust in humanity. So many people are turning out to be supportive of literal genocide. My parents are practically cheering for what's happening to Palestinians and literally admitted to me it's cause they are Muslims. I swear one day I'll up and leave them and never look back.
We will continue to extend all legal support to JUA in their fight against the insidious law of sedition. It is an outdated, draconian, colonial provision, which is open to immense misuse by state authorities. We will keep you posted.

There was outrage and a criminalisation push when students in poor countries were photocopying books. But now, when big, fat AI companies use every piece of knowledge generated by others to profit and create power silos, the narrative and reaction are so soft.
Caste annihilation while preserving capitalism is not possible in India. #Revolution
I’m sorry. Mastodon has spoiled me. I cannot seem to take BlueSky or Xitter or Threads or any of that shit at all seriously. They have nothing but a Big Name attached.
Inferior technology, name recognition, and a toonie will get you a large double double at Tim Hortons, but it don’t pay the freight anymore in social networking.
We’re also excited to introduce a brand new segment: an overview of recent developments in the Indian digital landscape 🙌
Topics covered will include but are not limited to the CoWin data breach, the Manipur internet shutdowns, and updates on the IT Amendment Rules, 2023.
We don’t want to miss any of your questions – that’s why we’re limiting updates to the key highlights ✔️ 2/n
#India. Please share so that others can see what is happening.
Prior to Mastodon and the fediverse if you wanted to create a real and viable social media platform it would cost you millions.
Mastodon being well developed product that it is (thanks to @Gargron ) really and truly gives news orgs the power to run their own social site for hundreds to thousands of dollars, not millions.
The SMART orgs like @politico , @TheConversationUS, @texastribune , @texastribune and countless others took the risk made the jump and will benefit greatly because of it.
