My mission out here? To understand and promote Mastodon, the only large European social media platform (to my knowledge).
How can we make more Europeans come to the Fediverse?

@NEBylines How on earth do so many councillors apparently get elected owing so much money in taxes, or unpaid 'covid loans'?
Its about time there were more stringent rules regarding such things. After all, taxes pay for their allowances and expenses!
Perhaps we need a list of all of these people who do, regardless of which party they claim to belong to!

Someone sponsored a pile of copies of 1984 at our local indie bookstore so they could give them away for free.

They were gone in less than 3 hours.

I found out this morning that another anonymous person donated $500 to restock the supply.

I assumed anyone who wanted to read 1984 would have done so by now, but clearly that's not the case.

Good news for the community, good news for the bookstore, just plain good.

Almost missed the #Aurora last night, a quick test shot showed heavy cloud #nightdreich but, I saw a glimpse and set up a camera #Auroraborealis #AurorainScotland #perthandKinross #TimeLapse the camera was set for the dark sky so I have shortened out all the cloud and left a darkened clip of the big display. I need a new wide lens 😆

#PPOD: Every spring and summer in the southern part of Mars, the Arsia Mons Elongated Cloud (AMEC) forms daily above the surface, as seen here by ESA's Mars Express orbiter. The cloud rapidly stretches out for hundreds of kilometers before fading away in a few hours. Strangely, Arsia Mons is the only volcano at low-latitudes to create such a cloud. I thought the Aurora was going to be a bust tonight, but right as I was getting ready to leave it turned into quite the show! Got these great pictures. Was 100% worth braving the 60mph gusts and freezing temps. I was up at crown point overlooking the Columbia river from the Oregon side. Pretty good for only a 30-minute drive outside of Portland. #aurora #auroraborealis
