I wear glasses, like all the time. Well, not when reading for long periods. It's easier since my eyes got worse. And I love my glasses. The world would be a blurry place if I didn't have them.
Last time I went for glasses, I found out my eyes were finally bad enough that I might need driving vs reading glasses. I'll assume reading would cover reading and general use while the driving would cover general use and far away. Or I could try my luck with progressive lenses.
I opted for the progressive. I really didn't want to keep track of two pairs of glasses. I envisioned many times I would be someplace with the wrong ones on my head and the right ones some place else. I did also get a pair of sunglasses for driving too. Non-progressive. The experience taught me I was right and know myself well. I have on occasion been in the house with my sunglasses while my regular glasses were in the car.
One aspect I didn't realize was its effect on screen watching. More specifically my PC or laptop. To look at something so close I needed to tilt my head up more than I used to. I adapted.
Those up to date know I have neck issues and well, long computer sessions lead to more neck strain and pain. A couple of years ago I pulled out my older pair. They were still serviceable for visual use, I broke one of the arms off by accident. I repaired them with my level 52 life hacking skills and made the appointment to get new ones. I still hade them (packrat). They also were very serviceable for screen use. So I put them on. The effect was almost immediate.
That was a few years ago. I've since misplaced them and this week have been racking my brain as to where they might have gone. I just found them buried on a utility shelf (dumping ground) we have and put them on. My eyes adjust immediately and I'm about to sit down and see if they are as helpful as I remember.
Attached are my current glasses and the repair I made on my old glasses just to show off.
