Neurodivergent multipotentialite. Into and just about anything else that can snag my attention for more than a minute or two.

Here, mostly focused on film photography and film cameras.

The header photo was shot on Kodak Portra 160 with a Mamiya Press Super 23.

@jmpb Thanks! I was going try that before finishing-up with the ECN-2 kit, but alas, did not get to it, as I discovered that the bleach in the kit wasn't quite what it should be.

Despite buying a full 400 foot (122m) roll of 50D recently, I now plan to just use C-41 for development — while still using a custom-mixed remjet prewash.

Hoping to post an addendum to that article soon. I still stand by what I said, but running two different color processes is more complication than I really want.

Image from a test roll. Pictured here, a rather gorgeous burst of color from a bachelor's button (Centaurea cyanus) in my front garden. Slow film + handheld + breezy day = blurry image, but beautiful to my eyes nevertheless.

I recently bought a 400 foot roll of Eastman 5203 (Kodak Vision3 50D), and promptly shot a small test roll just to make sure everything was good. It was.

Pictured here, ceramic bookends.

@hrprmd Oh heck, I did not hear about David passing… He was the only real expert I knew of; I have no second choice. When you find someone, which I’m sure you will, please let me know who, and what your experience was like. I’d like to have some ideas should my Hassy ever need some professional love. Good luck.

@SecurityWriter @jasonkoebler If CineStill think that this is going to endear them to the community on which they depend, I’ve got news. I don’t like or use their modified Kodak films (I shoot real Vision3 stock), and the most recent CineStill C-41 kit I’ve purchased will be the last as well. I’m a huge believer in intellectual property rights, but this is a step way too far.

@homestudiodad Thank you. Cloudy day, light drizzle, the sun peeking through only occasionally… It was a great day.

A very good friend of mine had a surprise for me after we met for lunch yesterday: A box of cameras!

Among the items in the box was this minty Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta 531/2, a 6x9 medium format folder in its original case. Evidence suggests that this example was pre-war (likely 1938), but can't be certain. It's in outstanding condition, with light-tight bellows, and remarkably, a Compur shutter that still tests out as within tolerance. Amazing. Loaded with film and ready.

Nice surprise!

@tapasinthesun The same thing is happening on a more frequent basis with resellers here in the US as well. Cameras and lenses that don’t match the grading criteria the seller themselves publish clearly on their website… Things sold as tested and fully working but aren’t… I know it’s vintage gear, but missing these fundamental things is frustrating, and just makes more work and expense for everyone involved no matter how good they are about the return process.

@quite1enough Depends on the flash I suppose, but any that I’ve used have a color temperature similar to daylight, so with 250D, you shouldn’t see any color shifting. Hope to see your results!

As a creative myself, like many others I have a lot of concerns about AI, ethics, rights, etc. That being said, playing with AI image generators appeals to my inner 7-year-old's sense of twisted humor.

Here, AI's depiction of a canned tunafish martini. Yum! 🙄

@Huginn87OG I’m thankful that I’ve only run into one such “repair person,” but even that’s too many. Really frustrating.
