Format portrait (vertical) couleur. Un paysage de montagne, au fond des sommets voilés de nuages, plaques de neige, sous un ciel gris nuageux.
Au premier plan, marge gauche le feuillage d'un pin, à droite un peu plus bas, le profil d'un autre. Puis un sol en pente descendante couvert de neige partiellement fondue, puis un rideau de pins plus bas, sur toute la largeur.
Un chemin de terre dégagé descend sur la droite de l'image, semblant tourner derrière les pins à droite, mais en fait il descend vers la gauche, si abruptement qu'on ne le voit plus sur l'image.
