I paused my longer Youtube videos on Story Structure because of the whole local laws saying you can't make a profit if you film, so to get around that, I decided to animate.
But first doing a whole bit on #adoption History.

Made some progress on the lace pattern and vectoring it. Vectoring takes me forever compared to hand drawing it. So fiddly and I'm a perfectionist of sorts... so... yeah.
I don't think AI could do this. I did a lot to improve it while vectoring it. And those value judgements are what separates humans from AI.
I can't post art on X (because it killed the bird) and the X likes AI now. But I've been vectorizing this piece of lace with lotuses, fish and water that I created. Somehow I think it would be cheaper to buy a sewing machine that could do it for me.
Skunk couldn't tank Twitter with all of his other tries. So he did this...
Fibroids suck. Debilitated.
I'm teaching an online class in September on Worldwide Story structure.
I'm currently debating if I should cut Bengali Widow's Tale since it's no longer used in Bollywood. Even Tollywood has changed.
Part 2:
I got Sudowrites to curse its own programmers, but it's really racist.
I also established really firmly that the programmers don't know Natsume Soseki or any Japanese lit.
I also established that the program can't recognize queer characters. Tried to push it towards recognizing a Gender X person, and it couldn't handle it.
So beat the bots this way.
How you beat AI-written stories... ask the person to write a different story structure that is not conflict-based.
1. Failing at Kishotenketsu (Chat GPT) The timing is wrong and there is no emotional height induced.
2. Sudowrites breaking after I tried to hint to it to write Kishotenketsu.
3. Chat GPT failing at Bengali's Widow's Tale.
4. Sudowrites not knowing what Kishotenketsu is. Also, doesn't know Natsume Soseki.
The pink on the mittens doesn't show up well.
Mittens, socks, hat. All hand knit. Mittens and hat are double knit. They can turn inside out so the dominant color is black with pink snowflake.
I didn't do it with a pattern. I did all the #knitting on the fly.
I did knit them top down, rather than bottom up against advice.
You can't replicate them. It's the last of the yarn ad thus the only ones in existence. I can't give you the pattern. I improvised the entire thing.
Other ways to create a story than starting with character and plot (also some deimperialization and freeing yourself from anti-queer, anti-disabled, anti-feminist, etc rhetoric): https://www.tumblr.com/kimyoonmiauthor/709081361441570816/the-lie-you-can-only-make-a-story-around?source=share
So I have a partial degree in graphic design which got paused because of covid. TT I was so close. 4 classes for a certificate and mostly upper division.
Anyway, I've been doing some #paintings as a going away gift for my kinda relative since they are moving to a different part of the country.
And since I haven't painted anything in forever, (I think the last time was over 5-6? years ago?) I'm learning I have to be really patient in ways computers don't ask you to be.
Origin of the coinage of the term "Inciting incident" (The idea is from Freytag, but the term isn't coined until later). And BTW, for the PoCs out there, there is nothing fun about this one. I really suspect the author is racist. There are quiet and loud red flags. #narrativestructure

I cheated an asked NYPL Ask for help on the last two puzzle pieces on story structure. My aim is to #debunk the #Antigone diagram by giving it proper attribution.
Upside, they did find the person responsible for putting "denouement" at the end. Don't know why though.
Names and faces should help correct the course.

My ongoing saga with battling health insurance.
So Health insurance checked on my claim, and then the doctor flat out lied to them, breaking my trust in that doctor. I even have text messages from that day documenting what they said shortly after my appointment.
Reminder that just last week, PW reported on a series of management and exec promotions at HarperCollins.
But I'll bet most, if not all, of those workers who will be laid off will be union workers.
Harper isn't going into union negotiations in good faith.
There better be a massive turnout at this week's rallies (1pm EST today at the Harper offices, and 1pm EST on Thursday at News Corp's office).

@pergus Thank you. I try my best to be helpful. My blog covers various topics as well and I try to create resources, and also debunk writing community myths to give people more freedom to think about the kind of writer they want to be.
Oddball #worldbuilding question #writingcommunity... In your world's language, do people "eat" "consume" (for Bengali speakers) or "drink" soup?
I'm super amused by the fact that languages with "eat" and "drink" can't seem to settle which it is and that the reasoning for it is scattered. I mean French is "eat" but Italian and Spanish is (mostly) Drink. Korean it's eat, but Chinese, despite all of that material in it is "drink" Japanese is "drink" except Ramen.
Which one do your people do?
Just wondering if I'm the only one where I rely on my subconscious/motor memory to do the majority of my spelling skills, and then when I overthink it, it all falls apart. And then there are WTF moments of, but I visualized that word, and my hands wrote something else. (Maybe I need more sleep.)
I also do a lot of slant words like there is a bad autocorrect in my head.

#Worldbuilding #Worldbuildingtips Subsistence systems. You can figure out how to get surplus without agriculture. And I put some of my undergrad work into the thing. So it's brand spanking new work checked by Anthro profs. This post isn't as boring for non-food lovers as you might think.
It took me over a week of work on this post to find and collate everything. And I did it from mostly my own memory. 50 pages single spaced.
@MiriShuli Oldest story structure I could find evidence for is the epic story structure, whose rules are loosely outlined in Ta'zieh/Hakawati, but I think the roots are older since some of the conventions are also in Epic of Gilgamesh and also Mahabharata and Ramayana.
Neither of them focuses on an individualistic journey as Campbell argues is "universal" though it isn't. Imposing it, though as universal, is imperialistic.
