Quality bit of shed time spent this evening, constructing my new homemade 1090 MHz ground plane spider antenna for ADS-B aircraft tracking - an upgrade to my earlier prototype design (this time using a mason jar lid for attaching the radials). I am geeked out of my tiny fucking mind, ladies and gentlemen. I'll get it hooked up as soon as it stops raining, which might happen sometime this month... fingers crossed. Been running my new homemade 1090 MHz ground plane spider antenna for almost two weeks now and it's giving me good results. Peak ADS-B range is just over 235 Nautical Miles (about 435 km or 270 miles). Certainly I'm picking up aircraft at lower and higher altitudes than I was with the stock ADS-B Exchange antenna. Not bad for something I cobbled together and stuck on the roof of my shed. #ADSB #ADSBX #ADSBExchange #RaspberryPi @felimwhiteley

Nachdem ich eben nochmal ADSB-Exchange als Alternative für Flightradar24 erwähnt habe: Ich überlege schon lange, einen eigenen Feeder aufzusetzen. Man kann das natürlich sehr professionell aufziehen, aber im einfachsten Fall reicht ein billiger DVB-T Dongle mit RTL2832U Chip und der RaspberryPi, der im Schrank verstaubt. Allgemein ist SDR (Software Defined Radio) ein spannendes Thema.
