"An important Message to all AfriNIC Members who are holding IP resources from AfriNIC. There is currently a very important election process ongoing to elect a new Board of Directors. The outcome of this election is pivotal to the future of AfriNIC. Make your vote count.
All IP Resource Holders who are up to date on their bill payments are entitled to vote, but the voting takes place on 23rd Jun at a PHYSICAL MEETING in Mauritius.
ONLINE Voting is available but you MUST REGISTER to online vote BY TUESDAY 2nd JUNE (3 Days Time)
PROXY Voting is available to a proxy who will be present at the Mauritius meeting but for that you MUST REGISTER your proxy vote vote BY 9th JUNE

The future history of #AFRINIC goes like this. Candidates backed by astroturfing group Number Resource Society do not win control of the board at coming elections. Lawsuits fly. AFRINIC remains dysfunctional. ICANN approves its new policy that allows deregistration of RIRs and then applies it to AFRINIC. Many more lawsuits. Eventually a new and small RIR serving only AFRINIC's critics and the number resources they hold is ratified plus a new AFRINIC. Many choose to ignore the IP blocs managed by the small RIR.

Wer hier um Marktanteile kämpft, kennt keine Verwandten. Monika Ermert/heise wagt zu berichten und zu kommentieren: “Missing Link: Fällt Afrinic und die Selbstverwaltung von IP-Adressen? – Die afrikanische IP-Adressregistry Afrinic steckt in einer tiefen Krise, bei der auch das globale System der IP-Adressverwaltung infrage steht.”
Bemerkenswert daran ist, wie Ermert schreibt: “Und auch individuelle Nutzer, die kritische Artikel verbreiten, dürfen sich auf Abmahnbriefe freuen.” Hmm, ja, ääh, ich konnte jetzt nichts Verbotenes entdecken, und will hiermit meine Leser*innen nur informieren, was ich Interessantes gelesen habe. Nie käme mir in den Sinn, damit Gesetze brechen zu wollen.
Erkennbar wird, wie hart gekämpft wird. Es geht also wohl um viel. Aber was interessiert das in Europa?
Der "freie" Markt mit #IPv4 Adressen ist schon seit Jahren kaputt, der Krimi um #Afrinic https://www.heise.de/news/Missing-Link-Faellt-Afrinic-die-klassische-Selbstverwaltung-von-IP-Adressen-10379129.html ist da nur der Höhepunkt. Als ITler mit jahrelanger Netzwerkerfahrung in auch größeren Unternehmen kann ich aber auch die Angst vor #IPv6 nicht verstehen. Es ist doch recht einfach am Perimeter #IPv6 anzubieten, zuerst einmal eingehen und bei Firmen die einen Proxy Server haben auch ausgehend 🤔.

I would have somehow expected AFRINIC to provide correct answers. It's `sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.forwarding=1`.
Une question pour les géographes : les instances anycast du serveur #DNS d'#Afrinic portent des identificateurs qui ne révèlent pas clairement leur position. Si s04-ns2.jnb est très probablement à Johannesburg, où se trouvent s03-ns2.iso, s01-ns2.jinx et s01-ns2.pkl ? Cela ne correspond pas à des codes IATA d'aéroports africains. Une idée de ce que peut être « pkl » ?
