Hey #ABPoli #ABLeg #ABElection2023 there is a big gap in media coverage of the results. Every source I've checked gives results by party and riding, but not by candidate name. What's up with that? We are actually voting for the local candidates.
Elections Alberta does do the breakdown, in a very clumsy way. How hard would it be for them to output a list, sorted by riding name, with candidate names and provisional vote totals?

@ThisIsWillAdams Also, when it comes down to it, only 32.6% of eligible voters voted for the UCP (926,918 UCP voters/2,840,927 eligible) - even though 60%+ of eligible voters voted. So, 1/3rd of eligible voters dictated the next four years of Alberta politics...
Should I really give the 14,218 voters who voted for a candidate who compared trans kids to pieces of poop in a cookie the benefit of the doubt? Surely they just didn't know she said those things?
@GuitarKat @dabertime In Calgary-Cross, Calgary-East there was a bigger difference in votes than Greens had. In Calgary-Bow and Calgary North-West, Alberta Party did have more than the diff so it only affected two seats.
@xenu gawd, I saw a voter interviewed last night saying he was a small business owner (which, if NDP had won last night, he would have had 0% small business tax) and voted UCP because last NDP term his business suffered (even though we were under a recession and the price of oil had tanked).
@jace well I mean a good chunk of rural Alberta burned due to the UCP killing off the elite wildfire unit and reducing funding for wildfire prevention/fighting... and they still voted UCP.

WTF, last time I checked the average citizen isn't a financial advisor: "Bill 1 for a second UCP term, dubbed the 'Taxpayer Protection Act,' would ensure no provincial government can increase personal or business taxes without a referendum."
