Last Autumn I spent a couple of days in Creetown. So, let's have a look at some of its Gaelic and Viking history.

Some reacted positively on Wednesday to news that the provincial government is considering allowing nurse practitioners to oversee medical care at long term care homes, in the absence of a physician.

10yrs ago give or take a month, I was broken.

Then I went on a trip around Scotland.
Then I bought a camera I didn't know how to use.
Then I went out in the landscape every single day for just over a year.
Then I had an exhibition.
Then I had a new career.
Then I was a little less broken.

Still working on it. But no regrets.
One of my first shots, 15 Nov '14.

Nature can heal. 🙏

A street lined with terraced houses featuring a mix of architectural styles, including yellow and red brick buildings. A red post box is visible on the sidewalk, and parked cars line the street. The sky is overcast, hinting at a cloudy day

Why do Olympic curling stones cost so much? A trip to Ailsa Craig with Kays of Scotland, who have the only licence to cut the rock, quarrying the granite, and then transporting it to Newton Stewart for working into Curling Stones

The image depicts the iconic Ailsa Craig, a rocky island located at the mouth of the River Clyde in Scotland. The island is visible on both the left and right sides of the frame, with its rugged topography contrasting with the calm waters around it. The photograph appears to be vintage, likely taken between approximately 1890 and 1900, judging by its composition and color tone. The image depicts the Ailsa Craig, a notable landmark in Scotland. It is an island located off the coast of Kintyre, near the town of Campbeltown. The photograph appears to be from the late 19th century or early 20th century, judging by its sepia tone and the attire of the people present in the image. The Ailsa Craig is known for its unique shape and distinctive vegetation. The surrounding water indicates that the photo was taken at a time when maritime transportation might have been more common. The overall impression is one of serene beauty, capturing the essence of Scotland's natural landscapes.

Here's a great article from 2001 about rat eradication on Ailsa Craig, by Dr. Bernard Zonfrillo, who sent me lots of wonderful info about the island too:

Ailsa Craig as seen from southern #Arran on a hazy and hot afternoon. It looks like a giant mushroom popping out of the sea surface around 20 kms from the point where this picture was taken #AilsaCraig #Scotland #biketour #cycling #britain #BikeTooter

In the foreground wild growing bushes and grass behind a fence, behind this scenery the glistening sea, and in the background the unique shape of Ailsa Craig, a small island popping out 340 m above the sea surface. Can also be mistaken as a volcano. Here it is surrounded by sea spray or haze
