Special Weather Statement, Dalton Highway Summits; Delta Junction; Tanana Flats; Eielson AFB and Salcha; Goldstream Valley and Nenana Hills; Two Rivers; Fairbanks Metro Area; Nenana; Central Interior; Northern Denali Borough; Southern Denali Borough; Eastern Alaska Range North of Trims Camp; Eastern Alaska Range South of Trims Camp, 2025-11-21 14:06 AKST.

Snow showers have begun across the central and eastern Interior. Circle Hot Springs reported a quick 2.4 inches through 9am Friday morning, and 3.0 inches was reported at Chicken. Heavier snow bands embedded within this system will lead to widely varying snow totals across the region. Snow will taper off Saturday night and Sunday.

South of the Chatanika River, expect around 2 to 4 inches of snow, including in Fairbanks. In Fairbanks, there is a 30% chance for 4-6+ inches as the heaviest is only about 30 miles northeast. This would only be possible if the localized heavier banding moves overhead, which is possible.

The heaviest snow near Fairbanks will be in the hills off of Chena Hot Springs Road where 4 to 7 inches are expected. Expect 3 to 6 inches in the White Mountains National Recreation Area and heavier amounts up to 12 inches north and east of Eagle Summit.

From Manley Hot Springs to Bettles, expect 1 to 3 inches with lesser amounts to the west.

From Nenana to Denali Park and Cantwell, expect 2 to 3 inches.

Expect 1 to 3 inches around Delta Junction, but up to 8 inches along the Richardson Highway near Trims Camp.

Winter Weather Advisory, Municipality of Skagway, 2025-11-21 06:09 AKST.

...SNOW TO CONTINUE ON UPPER ELEVATIONS OF THE KLONDIKE HIGHWAY THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...

.Most concern for snowfall continues to be north of mile post 10 towards White Pass.

Long duration accumulating snow continues for the Klondike Highway through Friday. Forecast confidence is highest for accumulating snow north of mile post 10 towards White Pass through Friday night, with expected lower snow levels and higher precipitation amounts. Dense, wet snow will make up a majority of the accumulating snow, with low snow ratios into Friday morning. Snow levels will then continue to drop throughout the day Friday and increase snow ratios again, allowing for more accumulation through the day Friday.

Stay tuned for additional details at weather.gov/juneau.

WHAT...Long duration snowfall continues. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches through Friday night. Wind gusts up to 30 mph.

WHERE...Klondike Highway, North of Milepost 10.

WHEN...Until 9 PM AKST Friday.

IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Main concern is a long duration of heavy rates around 0.25 to 0.50 inch per hour continuing through Friday for the upper elevations of the Klondike Highway. Continued strong southerly winds around 15 mph bring the potential for some drifting snow near White Pass with wind gusts up to 30 mph limiting visibilities. However, this southerly push lowers forecast confidence in accumulating snow through the daytime hours at lower elevations of the Klondike Highway and Skagway.
