Ok, with chatter on Mastodon about #Alienoid, decided to watch this afternoon on Hulu. It is funny how this has never shown up in any recommended watching, and that goes to show that their algorithms are not great.

Anyway, this thing is a wild mishmash of alien sci-fi, time travel, and Goryeo martial arts fantasy. Some things were a bit hard to follow, but overall it was a crazy and fun movie. 🍿 #kmovies

I have a #Viki subscription using Google Play, and it looks like because I set this up on my phone I can't rent via a browser on my computer which is how I usually stream. If I want to rent a movie I have to rent it on my phone in app then cast to a computer. I am finding this a challenge because I created a burner Outlook account for the media machine and I can't seem to set it up on my phone to cast, and I don't want to put my actual MS account on the media machine. I may have somehow just outsmarted myself and I have no idea how to get around this.

The Viki help page for rentals is a broken link, so that is no help either.

Sadly, this means no #Alienoid part 2 until I work it out.

Damn it. Why do I have to be security concious.

Alienoid 1 (2022) & 2 (2024) #Kmovie is wild, with some comedy in the mix, both good. It's not your typical scifi future aliens in Goryeo timejump save the world flick (ha!). Starring Ryu Jun Yeol, Kim Tae Ri, Kim Woo Bin. So many well known supporting actors. Jin Seon Kyu has a bit part in #Alienoid 2. Both he and Kim Tae Ri were in scifi Space Sweepers (2021) with Song Joong Ki (I liked that one too).

I hope there's a part 3. There's at least three things I still want to know.

I watched both Alienoid movies tonight! They are bad-ass and ridiculous at the same time! I like them a lot!

Kim Woo-bin and Kim Tae-Ri, plus Honey Lee and Ryu Jun-Yeol! And aliens and robots and time travel and magic and silly jokes!

Watched Alienoid: Return to the Future (2024) last night. I didn't like it as much as the first one. It doesn't work as a standalone movie, which is to be expected. It doesn't even work as a sequel, which is also understandable as it's really Part 2 of the first one. Compared to Part 1, it felt like not much happened, even though it was only 20 minutes shorter.

Watched Alienoid (2022) last night. Overall, I really liked it. I would say the plot is not "how can we stop the aliens" but rather "how did these people get into this situation", which is fine for a Part 1.
