My colleague @jtk and I worked on a small piece on insights by #Netscout on the DNS root server system. Despite all of the nuisance traffic reaching the root servers, our #DDoS telemetry does not yield terribly much. This is not a bad thing though, and can be explained through the ubiquity of #anycast on the 13 root server instances.

Make sure you have a solid DNS setup because everything depends on it.

It’d be nice to get a plug n play HDMI dongle, capable of casting from an #iPhone via #AirPlay. I got something called an #Anycast M9 Plus, which was pretty cheap, but I couldn’t get it working (reliably) so idk if it’s a dud or wtv. My #Xiaomi #Android TV box does it pretty well tho after installing an app, but ya.. I’d like that functionality but in the form of a tiny dongle rather than a full-on TV box.

Do not read this as criticism of #ipinfo, but I am surprised to see that the b, i, k, l and m #DNS root servers have the "privacy" flag set, meaning the IPs attempted to "hide" themselves. IPInfo suggests methods such as #VPN services. I doubt that.

Also, all 13 root server IPs are flagged as #anycast. I thought, there are still ~some~ servers not yet anycasted, but Wikipedia confirms otherwise. Well, well, well...
