#ArtAdventCalendar Day 13.
A much quicker study in Rebelle, trying some virtual plein air. I picked this scene in the Netherlands on street view for some landscape practice.

A digital painting of a leafy road in a flat landscape under a cloud streaked blue sky. Spring sun casts dappled shadows of small trees across the grass verges and grey asphalt, lying between wide fields, as yet empty of crops. A small stand of taller, darker trees can be seen in the distance. The whole thing is painterly in style, with a quick, slightly unfinished feel.

Art study challenge where I took a crazy color and tried to paint a portrait over it and normalize the colors. Turned into a member in the Cullen family, haha!

Painting of a young man with blue skin. Looking out at the viewer. Behind him is an orange circle. The artist's signature and @joyousjoyfuljoyness watermark are at the bottom.

A little study of Aimer's music video for the song One and Last. She's one of my favourite Japanese singers (if you're an anime nerd, you'll have heard of at least 1 of her songs!)

Also playing around with new brushes I made in

A small cat study I did some time ago. Where I live, you can see plenty of cats living in stores if you know where to look! Of course I had to take a few pictures of them 😉

Still figuring out fur/anatomy of animals, it's very different from humans (for better or for worse) 😅

A previous study I did of Kariza from life of Riza! I've watched a few of her vlogs, and I'm impressed with her colour grading! I wanted to see if I could replicate it in my art.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 4.
A portrait from 2024, based on a royalty free photo reference that caught my eye. Mostly because of the colour palette, which I tried to recreate faithfully. It was my first portrait for a while, and one of the first things I painted while finding my feet on a new tablet, so I was a bit surprised how well it came out!

A digital painting of a woman in three-quarter profile. She is light skinned with wavy red hair rendered in orange and brown painterly strokes. She is standing in an indistinct outdoor location at sunset, with a warm glow on her face and bare shoulders, looking off out of the shot to the right.

Today's tasks: wait for Amazon delivery (again), thinking of hotcakes for breakfast/lunch, continue my art studies, exercise, stream, then more game development. At some point, I need to put the yearly, festive tree in its corner. Might not be today.

I decided to put the address signs up. Hopefully, the delivery person reads those and does not assume the first place labeled with a 4 is me. I'm the second place labeled with a 4.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 3
This one from early in 2024 is a rare example of when I painted something entirely from imagination and it sort of worked out.
Doesn't often happen, because references ftw, normally.

A digital painting of a woodland canopy seen from below, in warm browns and greens. Indistinct, fuzzy looking trunks in the background, behind a more detailed central, focal tree that stretches up into chaotic, textured, scattered brush strokes giving an impression of foliage. Dappled light falls on the trunk, but overall the everything is quite muted, like the gloom inside a forest.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 1. For this year, I haven't managed to plan much, so I'm just going to post some paintings from the last couple of years that I haven't shown in a long time.
This piece was a study from a royalty free photo, that I did in Clip Studio back in May 2024. I'm still really happy with how the depth worked out in it.
You can watch it being painted in this video at 14:28 - makertube.net/w/d2AcPnq5Un1h99

A digital painting of a still life setup, including a teacup and saucer, a porcelain jug of plants with orange berries and a large hard bound book, all sitting on the corner of a box or stand draped with a white lace cloth. A shaft of sunlight streams through the scene, lighting up the cup and the berries in a warm, bright gleam against the very dark teal background.

I usually prefer darker palettes but Iove learning.

Art from my high school art class! (Don't ask how many years ago, haha!) Practicing creating volume with contour drawing.

Black pen drawing with volumetric lines of a plastic jug on some cloth and a pumpkin on a box to the left.

A face study when I was teaching myself color and texture! Painted this in Photoshop using a drawing tablet.

Painting of a red-headed woman with light blue eyes wearing a blue headscarf, looking out at the viewer. The artist's signature and @joyousjoyfuljoyness watermark are at the bottom right.
