Imagine making the stupidly rich, and only them, pay for housing for the 4,000 unhoused people in BC?

1. Vancouver and Surrey each have over $10b in their accumulated surplus, only a portion of it is designated for specific things.
2. Cities, the province and the feds own so much developable land, even just in the lower mainland.
3. We can borrow just $1b from the surpluses, and (see below)

That's because Lewis appears to actually be left-wing, where the BCNDP is on the right. Lewis is also against fossil fuels while the BC crew is very much for them.

"Former B.C. NDP executive director Michael Gardiner told National Post that Lewis would be harmful to the provincial wing as federal leader."

@emilylowan

It used to be $6b or $8b that the NDP was giving up by not reversing the Liberal tax cuts. But if it's $16.8b right now, what is that. Housing all the unhoused. Free tuition. Free transit. Tons of green energy development. And billions more if they didn't give oil and gas our tax money to fuck up the planet.

Time for a tax revolt? Federally and provincially.

My feed looked like this at one point today...

These 2 posts in sequence...cosmic fuckery like this happens about once a month.

2 posts in sequence.

One piece references an article with the headline, " The trauma of ice raids is rippling through public school across the US."

The second post is from the onion, which mocks the Democratic party. The headline reads, "'You can't let this happen,' says fundraising email from sitting US congressperson."

I just learned learned the #BCNDP canceled the throne speech due the Tumbler Ridge shootings.

Winnipeg FP: B.C. throne speech cancelled because of Tumbler Ridge shooting - winnipegfreepress.com/canada/2

I have not found this tidbit on CBC, but I may have missed it in the firehose of coverage.

What this means for the Legislative Assembly is the Spring session is delayed. Thursday will be an official day of mourning. The Throne Speech cannot happen until Friday at the soonest.

Things getting Spicier in the BC Leg!
“BC Greens announce end of co-operation agreement with the BC NDP”

"“The Greens upheld our side of the agreement, voted confidence where it was specified, and there were real results for British Columbians... but when it came to deliver action on community health centres, transit in the Sea to Sky, or public coverage for psychologists, the NDP simply failed.”” @emilylowan

The BC NDP leadership is doing a good job of disenfranchising me between this and the softening on reconciliation.

I hope they know this is not what they were voted in to do. Quite the opposite.

@JessTheUnstill

I'm looking for a 25% wealth tax/year on families worth more than $200m, dropping to 5% when they're down to $78m.

California is pondering a 1-time 5% tax on families worth us$1.1b. 60% of NY residents (not just NYC) favour free, universal childcare until pre-K, with an explicit tax on the rich to fund it.

So, I want wayyy more, to end the 1%.

This article highlights one of the problems with #BCHydro: it does not serve communities, it serves corporations.

#Renewable #energy generation is slightly more $$ efficient when centralized. But #PowerGrid design is more #resilient when generation is #decentralized.

#Quatsino is an #entrepreneur model - 600 members, remote, nearly #OffGrid w/storage. A co-op #microgrid with the hamlet could be the ideal pilot program for #BC Hydro.
