#BaroqueDance practice. Working on this male solo published in 1700 by Feuillet. The music is from the "ballet royale" Flore (1669) by Lully, in which Louis XIV danced as the Sun (v. unsubtle propaganda).
Did Louis dance this choreography? It's tempting to believe so, but the delay between performance & publication is strong evidence against it. However, it's not implausible. Feuillet was accused of stealing the notation system - why not the dances too?

The remainder of the page contains choreographic notation for the start of the dance - corresponding to the music at the top.

Choreographer (and #opera director) August #Bournonville died in Copenhagen.
Despite all the changes in #ballet technique & aesthetics since then his surviving oeuvre like #Sylphide, Napoli, Folk Tale, Kermesse in Bruges is our window into the C19.
