@emma

2 rather informal definitions have been offered:

• 1 Knill & Pouget 2004
“Bayesian coding hypothesis:
Brain represents sensory information probabilistically, in the form of probability distributions”

• 2 Friston 2012
“Bayesian brain says that we are trying to infer the causes of our sensations based on a generative model of the world.”

Neither even mentions

What then is exactly meant by ?

#NewPaperAlert🚨

Following our previous approach establishing that #anxiety increases behavioral ritualization, we now show that #ritualization may help decrease anxiety, albeit only for participants more susceptible to anxiety induction.

Figure illustrating the motor and verbal tasks used to manipulate ritualization. There are four rows and three columns (columns representing the ritualized, control, and neutral conditions). Top two rows illustrate the motor task. In the ritualized condition, the dot moved predictably in rigid patterns, while in the control condition, the dot’s
movements were unpredictable. In the neutral condition, participants only watched the white grids without the moving dot.
Bottom two rows illustrate the verbal task. In the ritualized condition, participants read aloud the same stanza for three minutes in the ritualized condition, while in the control condition, they read randomly ordered words from the same stanza. In the neutral condition, participants again watched the same white grid as in the motor task
