I am now on the train from Frankfurt Main to Paris (with stops in Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Strasbourg). It's the last leg of my trip from Wrocław (Poland). The train is a TGV Duplex.

On the platform I saw people disassembling their bikes so I would assume that there are no bike places. WiFi works. 10/n

I boarded on the ICE train from Dresden to Frankfurt/Main. This train has places dedicated to bikes 🤩

Kudos to Deutsche Bahn and Münster Hbf, I made my 8 minute transfer in 3 minutes: the ICE train was on time, and signs for another platform were clear. I could probably even use elevators instead of running up and down the stairs with a loaded bike 😅

Happily I can report that I also got my bike off the train (well that bit is no problem, the #Merseyrail trains are completely level to the platform) and out of the station too (a very tight squeeze into the lift to street level, but I managed it).

Now for some seaside cycling 🌊 🏖️ 🚲

In the last 5 years I’ve done more #cycling than at any time since my teens/early 20s, probably more actually. There’s one thing I haven’t done since the 1990s though which is take my bike on a train. Last time I did it there was a guard’s van to take bikes!

So for #30DaysOfBiking I thought it was time to get over my worries and try bike+train again.

So far so good, I have my bike on the train! Let’s hope getting it off the train (& station) is as easy.

And I so hope some of the funds are carved off for #Bicycle infrastructure - especially secure bicycle parking! (in the best cities, there are also changing rooms/showers to promote #CycleCommuting #bikecommuting.)

Ooo, ooo! and, since it will be going to #MassTransit, #BikesOnTrains! This is a big issue in many places. In Amsterdam it appears everyone has two bicycles - one in the city, the other at their local train station, requiring twice as much parking.
