I might be wrong but wordpress block themes seem like a designer nightmare for when one editor starts messing up with all the options available in every block/part/template.
I am used to create classic themes and even creating custom blocks from scratch for them, and although it has some editing constrains, at least the styles/options/blocks play well together and the risk of design fu*kup is quite minimal in comparison to block themes.

Der Navigation Block bei Block Themes wie Twenty Twenty-Five ist nach wie vor nicht ideal. Neben der doch eher bescheidenen Bedienung (Benutzererfahrung UX), kann es auch schon mal passieren, dass auf einmal die vorgesehene Navigation für das Hauptmenü verschwindet. im Beitrag beschreibe ich, wie man das Problem lösen kann.

Im letzten Jahr habe ich mein Block Theme Circles WP eingereicht und hatte auch das Schlagwort "Accessibility" angegeben. Ich hätte seinerzeit nach Angaben des Reviewers lange Zeit warten müssen, bevor das Theme mit dem Schlagwort veröffentlicht worden wäre, weil es wenige Reviewer für Accessibility gibt. Ich habe notgedrungen auf das Schlagwort verzichtet, weil ich nicht so lange warten wollte. Circles WP ist IMHO grundsätzlich barrierefrei.

Gestern habe ich eine "kleine" lokale Website von Twenty Twenty-Three auf Twenty Twenty-Five wegen meines Vortrags beim WordCamp Leipzig am 16. und 17.5.2025 umgebaut. Das betraf in dem Fall nur ein Template, das ich anpassen musste und natürlich das Design, Farben, theme.json, etc.
Hat nicht mal eine Stunde gedauert. ☺️

Ich habe heute wieder mal gemerkt, wie schnell man grundsätzlich eine Website mit einem klassischen Theme (Customizr) auf ein Block Theme wie Twenty Twenty-Five umstellen kann. Das hat gerade mal etwas mehr als eine Stunde gedauert. 🚀
Natürlich nur, wenn kein Pagebuilder im Spiel bei der "alten" Website war. Und klar, Feinarbeiten sind noch notwendig und das war jetzt eine eher "kleine" Website. 🪛

Ich habe meine Website auf das Theme Twenty Twenty-Five aktualisiert. Pfeilschnell ohne viel Mühe. Ein Child-Theme nutze ich nur, im die Anpassungen dauerhaft in einer theme.json zu sichern.
So nice: My theme Circles WP is mentioned in WP Weekly. I'm very happy.
And: After 2 weeks more than 40 Active installations. 🎉😊
I am very pleased that my Block Theme "Circles WP" has now been published in the WordPress repository. 🎉

Creating a block theme is a bit time-consuming. In the meantime, however, I have at least reached a stage where the theme has passed my (internal) tests (e.g. with the Theme Check plugin).
Now I have to add patterns and then I'll have to think about submitting the theme. But that will take some time because - as I said - it takes time and there are other projects, e.g. my organizing work for WordCamp Karlsruhe 2024.
