When I made this, Erie was just a kitten (https://social.ridetrans.it/@Andres4NY/109509916389297567). Erie is bigger than Twig, and a few years older. But now Twig, who's approaching his first birthday, barely fits on the perch. I should've made them bigger! I designed it for a small mom and her kitten (not realizing the kitten was half maine coon and would grow up to be a giant). #CatTower

A tabby kitten (almost full grown cat) sleeps on the carpeted shelf of a cat tower, just inches from the ceiling. He's only visible because he's kind of falling off the perch; his two hind legs are completely off the perch and touching a wall, his tail is hanging off, and on the other side of the perch two inches of his back hang off.

Sometimes they climb the #CatTower from the inside (which is also covered in carpet). Other times, they climb on the outside.

With three available perches on the #CatTower, I guess we have space for one more cat in the house..

I have become such a cat person that I authorised the purchase of this ***kin' massive cat tower.

Top of my head. In the background, a plywood rectangular tower with shelves on it. On a shelf halfway up, there's a black tail and a partially visible black cat butt.

Same landscape as before, but this time the black cat is CLIMBING UP TO THE NEXT PLATFORM, which is a good 3-4 feet higher. Her two paws are on the platform, the rest of her body is hanging from it like Stallone in Cliffhanger or something.. Her back paws are positioned on the tower walls, which I guess are grippy enough for her claws?

Same cat on the top shelf, which is 8ft above the ground and just under the ceiling.

We added shelves to the #CatTower yesterday. Next up, we need carpet or sisal or something.

I still need to find a good source for inexpensive/free carpet in Queens or inexpensive sisal online, but tbh I haven't really been looking to hard.

Long (8ft tall) rectangular cat tower made of unpainted plywood lying on the ground. There's a 8in x 8in hole allowing access inside, and under the hole a platform for cats to use.

Same cat tower, this time upright. It reaches the ceiling. There are 3 platforms/shelves on the tower, all on different sides.

Close-up of one of the shelves, showing the underside. There's a triangle support, with blocks of wood (a 1x4) on other side of the support. The blocks of wood are what the screws dig into, since screws perpendicular to the plywood face would just fall out.

I am in the process of making a #CatTower with the 10yo. We still need to figure out where exactly it will go (that will determine the final height), and also need to add platforms under the holes and carpet along the outside.

a messy room with a half-finished wooden tower in the middle of it. The tower is plywood, and the tower is roughly 9 inches on each side. There's a hole on the bottom and the very top for cats to go in and out. The tower just about touches the ceiling (8ft tall).

Zoomed on on the tower on a different side, there's a 6x6 inch square hole mid-way up the tower. Some 2x2 piece of lumbers are partially visible on two different corners, giving the plywood something to connect to and giving it stability & structure.
