A team of gas utility workers laying pipes in northern Lima, Peru, stumbled upon an ancient discovery during their work, uncovering a 1,000-year-old pre-Inca mummy. The find was just 20 inches (50 centimeters) beneath the ground when workers came upon the trunk of a huarango tree—historically used as a tomb marker in Peru’s coastal area. The presence of the tree indicated the probable presence of a grave. While excavating further, archaeologists discovered the remains of a teenager between the ages of 10 and 15 who was buried in a seated position with arms and legs bent, wrapped in a shroud with ritual objects...

China necesita cada vez más recursos y los busca, más que nunca, en Latinoamérica. Para su industria militar China necesita al triángulo del litio, a Bolivia, Argentina y Chile, que concentran casi el 60% de las reservas mundiales de ese mineral.
Para China también es imprescindible el Puerto peruano de Chancay, inaugurado a finales de 2024: desde allí se alvanza Asia once días antes que navegando por otras rutas.
China también necesita los recursos agrícolas y pesqueros de Latinoamérica para alimentar a una población de casi 1.500 millones de personas. ¿Por qué entonces los países latinoamericanos aceptan acuerdos de extracción de dejan danios ambientales irreversibles? ¿Por qué permiten que los pesqueros chinos esquilmen caladeros en sus aguas territoriales o incluso en áreas protegidas como las Galápagos? ¿Y por qué el principal puerto de América está en un 60% en manos de China? Pues porque hasta ahora, los Gobiernos latinoamericanos no han sabido negociar desde una posición de fuerza, y cada vez más voces exigen que eso cambie.
