Introducing New Post Flairs to Help Us All Find What We Need
Hey everyone,As part of our ongoing effort to make r/FedNews as organized and valuable as possible, we're rolling out a small but important update that I think you'll find really helpful: a brand new, streamlined set of post flairs. We've all been there—you're looking for a specific conversation about a union lawsuit or the latest FEHB changes, and you have to scroll through dozens of posts to find it. Our old flair system was a bit cluttered and didn't always help you get to the information you needed quickly. This new system is designed to fix that. It's built to function like a clear, intuitive filing system for our entire community. Here's a Look at the New Flairs:News / Article: For links to reputable news sources.Official Guidance / Policy: For direct links to .gov sites, OPM memos, public laws, etc.Workplace & Culture: For discussions about the day-to-day realities of fed life, leadership, and agency dynamics.Pay & Benefits: For everything from the GS scale and TSP to leave policies and FEHB.Legal & Union Action: For updates on lawsuits, grievances, and union news.Original Analysis / OC: For your own high-effort, original research or in-depth posts. Why This is a Helpful Change for EveryoneThis isn't about adding another rule for the sake of it; it's about improving the user experience for every single member of this community.Find Information Faster: With these clear categories, you'll be able to filter the subreddit by flair and instantly find all the posts related to the topic you care about most. No more endless scrolling.Better Context at a Glance: The flair will immediately tell you what kind of post you're about to read—is it hard news, an official policy document, or a discussion about workplace culture? This helps you decide where to best spend your time.A Cleaner, More Organized Space: By categorizing our content more effectively, we can all contribute to a more organized and professional-feeling environment. It helps us fulfill our shared goal of making this the most credible and easy-to-navigate hub for federal employees. How We'll Roll This OutFor the next few days, using these new flairs will be optional to give everyone a chance to get used to them. After that, we will be making them a mandatory requirement for all new submissions. Our AutoModerator will gently remind anyone who forgets to add a flair to their post. We're confident this small change will make a big difference in the quality and usability of our community. As always, we're doing this with your feedback in mind, and we believe this is a positive step forward for all of us.Thanks for being a part of this.
