Ian McEwan's two-part #speculativefiction and contemporary #literaryfiction novel is a 22nd century scholar's wistful obsession with the literary and natural world of the early 21st century and that world as it really was in those decades from the prospective of a scholar embroiled in it. The novel tackles a host of issues - #gender, #ethics, #climatebreakdown, #dementia, #patriarchy, #ecosystemDestruction, and loss and grief. It's a decent read albeit somewhat sexist.
