Hey, how does #DFHack work?
Hey, how does #DFHack work?
ERMAGERD!
#dfhack adds some really helpful filters to the military screen now.
Ooh! I like how #dfhack now comes with pre-configured tasks that you can import.
DFHack - Dwarf Fortress Modding Engine update for 12 October 2023
The mod has a good introduction and "getting-started-guide." I personally haven't started messing around with the deeper stuff and played more with the live changes that it makes to the game, like menu changes and the feature of building furniture before you actually have the furniture constructed.
One fun feature I discovered running it for the last few hours is the ability to build furniture that hasn't been constructed yet. I just love this. It allows me to build all my bedrooms and then move on the next stuff and then it is slowly completed in the background. Such a nice quality of life feature.
You are also able to build engrave slabs and filter them when placing them, removing the struggle of placing the correct one.
I now see what you mean how it just adds to the game. But I can also see I've barely touched the surface of it.
It is really nice that the UI follows the style of the game and it feels as if it is actually part of the game and not a mod!
This is so great. I just tried it. The installation is very easy and then it just works. I just booted up the game, and everything is working. Thanks a lot!
Holy moley. #DFhack is storming ahead with new bits and bobs.
#DwarfFortress #DfHack
Is autolabor supposed to write lots of messages to the dfhack window every second?
Can I turn that off?
I also installed #DFHack tonight.
One of the functions is a report that tells you how many of your dwarves are in need of new clothes, and lets you queue up tailoring jobs to make replacements.
All of them. All of my dwarves are in rags. No wonder they’ve been complaining about not being able to aquire new belongings!!
I burned through my entire stockpile of cloth, silk, yarn and leather trying to give them new stuff to wear.
o frabjous day, callooh callay
#dfhack now runs (very minimally) on #dwarffortress premium
so after one day of hacking on dfhack, my first attempt to compile generated 162 errors and two warnings. about half of these are due to our ancient version of protobuf, which does not compile in VS2022
not nearly as bad i expected, tbh
yay, i managed to uninstall vs2019 and vs2015 (and boy howdy did vs2015 not want to uninstall), install vs2022, and get dfhack to build correctly with only minor difficulties
i've received some quiet whispers that lead me to believe that autolabor and labormanager will not be obsolete in the steam release, and so the refactor and improvement project for these tools is back on. if you use either of them and would like to make suggestions for improvement, contact me or open a "suggestion" issue at https://github.com/DFHack/dfhack/issues
i'd especially like to hear from people who have tried labormanager but found it did not work for them
looks like my vague plans to get a #hamradio station back on the air over the winter break is now on hold because of the #dwarffortress steam release in december which will mean a lot of activity on #dfhack
so next project: upgrade visual studio to 2022
actually started using #dfhack today after losing a second Fortress in a row to a loyalty cascade. Have gone back to last backup, will see how it goes
