@potus wants to make South Carolina the first Democratic Primary state. It's certainly better than Iowa but, IMO, the best state to kick off Democratic Primary season is New Jersey. It's more diverse than anywhere else and, unlike SC, it actually matters in the electoral college - South Carolina hasn't gone D for President since 1976. NJ, OTOH, is a Blue state. Candidates who do well in NJ are likely to do well in other states that actually produce Democrat electoral College votes.
